Nitro Sport 3.3 (Update)

Hey Friends,

Well 2 days ago I went to my LHS and decided I'd grab my self a Traxxas Nitro Sport. Well after breaking in my Little pro .15 engine, Which is not hugely powerful, i realized this is a fun little rig. After looking at Upgrade kits for throwing in my trx 3.3, I thought to myself, the stock mounts sure look like they would fit. So After 1.5 hours I Did have the 3.3 mounted, though I had to add lock washers to bump the height of the clutch bell. Though Have a Perfect spacing now.

My next problem was, I had to make my own throttle linkage. With the help of 2 extra linkage kits from my slayer and a custom Drilled mount I accomplished my own linkage. The stock exhaust from my 3.3 did fit, though the header isn't ideal, because it sticks out a little far, so its susceptible to damage. As well I made a mount for the exhaust out of an old linkage shaft.

I also made my own exhaust tip out of a dual exhaust I didn't like. I think it looks pretty sharp.

Just thought I'd throw this little project out there for other hobbyists to see. I'm actually taking it out right now for its maiden voyage, we'll see what I break :D:hehe::first_place:

Update:
Hey Friends After having to wait a month or for some extra cash. I finally have the Nitro Sport 3.3 project on the go again, currently I'm just waiting on my dynamite cooling head, it should be here tomorrow.

I bought the stock tire/rims used on the slayer, we'll see how these skinnier tires handle. I Added New suspension, xxl in the rear. Rebuilt the 3.3 again. Upgraded to some Mid quality Futuba servos. Added a Silver Carbon Fiber rear shock tower and added a low RPM tuned pipe.

Here's the visuals, Also note I still haven't fully prepped it to run ex.( Missing air filter, Currently still has the non operational stock powertune cooling head, need to install thottle linkage & Minor details. Sorry Not best quality pictures either, Lost my $800 camera phone.

Looks nice. I would lose the ez start and slap on a pull. Get a header for a rustler 2.5 and pipe wire mount from one two and just put a zip (self taping alum gutter screw) screw in the end of the pipe. Just my 2 cents tho. Here is a pic of that screw job.

Wow I took it out tonight on a grass field. I have to say, I'm utterly shocked by the speed and power of this car with a 3.3. Reminds me of my Buddy's electric truck, ability to wheelie at any speeds. I would estimate 55 -65 MPH top speed, with stock gearing and one speed tranny. Not to mention it picks up to those speeds in about 2 - 3.5 seconds. Very very fun car with 3.3. ill have to shoot some video, its very quick car, with more torque then I've personally toyed with so far. Just a quick note on how much power this is for this little car, the rear shock tower snapped in half at a 45mph wheelie :) :) I'm really excited about this car. I'm thinking about selling off My Upgraded slayer w/o its 3.3 engine.

Yeah Me either until last night, I went out and grabbed 4 extras just in case :) As well grabbed a couple exhaust couplers, front tower, and some nice stiff springs for the rear.

Well I just have the worst luck with my rigs, I go to take the little devil out and when i fire it up its spitting at me through glow plug. I go to snug it up and end up stripping the cooling heads threads :( :( :( If one thing doesn't break another will, seems to be my luck. I was so excited to get it going and then this comes along, The wait continues. Anyone know a manufacture that make cooling heads for the trx 3.3 other then traxxas? Possibly with fast shipping to Canada?
