the lhs is claiming that there is a nitro shortage therefore driving the cost of nitro up. i think that they are just trying to candy coat the transportation costs and justify the consumer.. Am i correct or is there truly a nitro shortage?

Yup, but little nitros don't even need as much nitro as a big Top Fuel car does. How much did they raise the cost?

Last time I went in, they had done same across the board for all brand....$5 a gallon.

One motor replacement and a years worth of fuel are making a brushless and lipo set up sound better and better all the time.
Most of the world's supply is outsourced to China, with the Olympics coming up, apparently they have cut back on production to help clean up the environment. That, and a lot of it has been diverted to pharmaceuticals and fertilizer production.
The NHRA has banned all testing days at NHRA sanctioned tracks for the
rest of the season. They interviewed Don Schumacher, who has 400 drums
of his own (not VP fuels, which is the official fuel of NHRA), and he
said he might be forced to sell it on the open market due to worldwide
demand. He also mentioned that the RC hobby was hurting for nitro, too.
