O.k. I just need something new to talk about and I thought this would be an intesting discussion. Do you guys think oval racing will ever become popularized in nitro powered vehicles. Everything seems to be electric from what I've seen. I know these r/c 2 strokers aren't made to handle constant high rpms, but what about 4 strokers? O.S. used to make a 4 stroker for car use but discontinued it. Is it out there and I don't know?

Over on another board I was reading a post about nitro oval. It sounds like a blast. I run a electric dirt oval sprint car. Oval is a lot more fun that you would at first think. I can imagine that nitro is even more fun. I hope it catches on, it would be fun and interesting to try.

This is the first time I have seen dirt oval racing... I didnt think they really raced a oval. It appears to be fun I would like to take my savage(with the right oval set up) to a track and race just once to see what it is all about.

We race paved oval here. Nitro is big at the track. We also race nitro oval trucks. They are RC10 gts and other stadium trucks modified for oval.

I have pics and videos of me crashing my way to third place somewhere in my archives.
Its a blast.

Oh yeah, dirt oval is alive and well I can guarantee you. But tracks like this, this and this - quarter scale NASCAR style - bring oval racing to a whole new level. Most of these are two-stroke gasoline powered mills. Arrrruuughh!!! :D

great links guys! Pretty cool stuff there. That first link looks super nice rocknbil... wish there was something like that in northern Ohio. I'll have to do some lookin, maybe I'll find something

yea the first one is Rendon. That is a very nice brand new facility here in Texas. Its a huge track too.. We ran our sprints on it with no wing and were geared 20/60 on rubber tires and still didnt have enough..

Wish there was a little more information on they're page. How large a track is it? How fast do the cars get around it? Wish there was some video..

If you want to try something a little different check out
an IMPBA nitro boat race.
Six boats per heat.
Six laps.
1/3 mile oval.
Speeds range from mid thirties to over eighty MPH.
Lots of different classes lots of fun.

Bud, you have no clue exactly how much I agree with you. :D The whole point of my site is to bring hobbyists and manufacturers/services/tracks together so they can find each other, and sometimes just finding a business address on a business site is a chore. But I think that aerial pic on the second link speaks for itself. Look at the cars in the lot off to the right. Sucker's huge. :D

i love dirt oval, i see there's a track fairly close, actually perhaps 2 tracks, that run gas truck oval on dirt, maybe some nitro edm's or sprints. but that would involve buyin another vehicle, so i'll have 2 pass sadly.

Rendon is HUGE but q scale cars have never really impressed me. I guess its because they handle so much differently. AS for lap times I think they were turning somewhere around mid 6 to low 7 second laps. If I had to guess I wouod say the track is about 300' or so around the center. Maybe even a little more. The thing with those cars is that while they do look impressive adn they are big, when they wreck its just like a real car, its a trip to the chassis shop and stuff. I dont know I think I will stick with 1/10th scale at least until they become either more popular or more modular.

The place we had the ECBII at had two tracks. One was an off road dirt and the other was a dirt oval. We were having just as much fun running the oval as the regular track.

I think that's what would make large scale racing so interesting. There's a LOT more on the line. Aside from being really into the hobby I assume there needs to be a certain level of talent to go with it. Can't just be bumpin people in every corner. Just gonna piss people off and end up wrecked... hmm, sounds like Bristol :D

Would be great if more places held oval track racing with pit stops to change tires and make adjustments like Nascar.

ok, I said "large scale racing" in my last post. But in hindsight I realized I didn't really mean "large scale cars". Just larger tracks. I wonder how fast some 1/8 scale cars could get up to on a track like that? Cept the engines wouldn't last very long. Gas engines are cool I guess but glow engines are the grassroots of r/c.

team 17- Could you imagine 40 2-strokers floatin by at 80-90 mph? wa wa wa wawawawawawawa wawawawa wawawawawwawa wa wa wa wa wa wa
