RC Driving Style
Just wanted to introduce myself. I had RC stuff all though grade school through college...now I have some time and $$ to get back in...

Just finished a new Kyosho TR-15 Impreza and wanted to get some tips..

the car seems difficult to set camber, how much does this effect the handling. I also forget about toe-in, is it better to have it in, even, or out on four wheel drive. I've done one test drive breakin the engine in and it seemed to spin out easy slowing into turns(half throttle maybe)...is this normal with nitros.

Otherwise, this nirto stuff is super fun, any other chicago racers out there?

The spinning is not normal. The front suspension setup is critical to handling. The chamber adjustment can vary but is generally from Zero to about two degrees negative (inward at the top of the tire) and the toe can be anywhere from zero to about 1/16 - 1/8 inch in. The exact requirement would be dictated by the track and conditions alog with driving style. I'm not real good at this with R/C car but used to do front ends on full sized cars for my job. I can tell you that the body will have a big effect on handling also. Downforce is important just as it is in any race car. The wings on the rear can have a great effect stabilizing the car at high speed.

yeah man that is a hell of a nice body. did you do it yourself? got any more pics of it?
i just love wrx's they are like my favorite car.

I just ran another tank. I adjusted toe to about 1/8 from 1/4 and helps alot....but the culprit for spinning was the set screw for the front drive was missing, hence rear wheel drive. The front camber is about three degrees, its a bitch to adjust with this kit.
Yeah I did the body, the box suggests blue with giant yelow stickers but I did 2-tone job and just used sponsor stickers, I could of done better(my last paint job was ten years ago) another pic

flyp - welcome to RCNT!!!! Great looking ride - follow larry's advice for the setup of the car - he is right on. Another reason for your handling woes is those god awful tires the kit came with. drop em, and get a good set of foams. you will notice a world of difference.

Nice car.
I'm from Chicago... well... Munster, IN, which is pretty darn close :)
But i only have an on-road almost 15 year old classic TA RC300.
I cannot even set camber, toe-in and all those fancy words you are throwing around here :)
I have a diff in the rear.... everything else is solid, but therefore almost unbreakable too :)

Welcome! Nice paint job. Like NA said, kill those tires. Get the foams u will definitly feel the difference.

Thanks for the compliments on the body everyone, check the jgegs for some modifications...

I finished the run in cycle and ran a few tanks at half throttle to finish it off. I went to the biggest parking lot I could find (United Center) and ran it full throttle, simply amazing! Made some adjustments to brake and throttle linkage and found it was not full throttle and the brake was binding a bit...after adjustments the car screamed, from my experience at least....

Learned a newbie lesson today: I went to baseball diamond to see how the "rally" worked in the car and after only a minute in the dirt the throttle stuck. The fine dust found its way into my carb. A combination of cheapo air filter and my newbie ass not soaking it in the proper oil (how come the directions don't say this?)

I was going to try and enter a race in Oak Park today, but now I am rebuilding the engine and getting a pro air filter and some air filter oil... lesson learned!

Any suggests on how to dirt proof the fuel/air system...the original tr-15 Inferno is dirt buggy(the kit mine is based off), so how come my hardware wasn't up to the task?
