Hello All,

First post, I am pulling my Nitro Hawk out and getting it ready to run. It always gave me trouble as a kid but I have not lost faith completely. Its literally 25 years old!! I did the .12 to .15 swap at one point but never really had it running for long periods of time. I have all of the original parts minus the .12. If you see the fuel tank moved to the back I did that for the ez start which I haven't located again its in a box. I will be moving it back with a different starter this time.

I bought a ton of parts today including another pro .15 long shaft to help get this going a little quicker.

Look for more updates next week when I clean it and install a few replacement parts.

Hey Kyle, welcome to RCNT ! Looks like a fun project. I just finished a Nitro Hawk build. It was a blast. Please keep us posted on your progress .:welcome_sign:

Welcome to RCNT!!! :welcome_sign: Good luck with the resto! Def create a thread about your build!

Funny, I was just gonna mention that they get in touch with you about any issues @watertrucker !!!:hehe:

This weekend many of the parts came so I cleaned it up and installed what I could. This car had 25 years of grime and dust stuck on it so it was a beast of a job to get it to this state. I ordered some blue balloons for the servos to bring back the Traxxas style water proofing of 1992. My goal with the project initially is to keep it as close to stock as possible to get it running and then upgrade. I am looking at the tuned exhaust as one option and likely replacement of servos and the radio. While I am sure the radio will work based on my initial range testing I'm thinking I will avoid problems overall. I noticed under the rear end a number "1" was stamped to the chassis, I wonder what that represents.

While looking around I found the original decals but the body is still missing. In my discovery I found the original manual, paper parts list as well as some other items I will post later.

-Kyle

Lookin great!....:thumbs-up:

When excessive fuel sits on the RC ,it will eat away on some of the componets ,like the iodine aluminum an plastics ,it sometimes
can melt the servo's!

Oh ,it also stinks like HELL!..:D

So here is an update:

I received many different parts, see the first screenshot. The car runs great and I have gone through 4 tanks of fuel. Unfortunately I ran it into a curb on the 5th tank but at slow speed, while keeping an eye on my 10 month old son. So another 20 bucks later this weekend I can run a few more tanks of fuel.

IT'S ALIVE....

Looks great! Good job on the build. Curbs have a way of suddenly getting in the way. I crashed my brand new Nitro Rustler into a curb during break-in LOL Wasn't hard to fix and is still running great.
