Should be able to get high grade castor at your LHS. Klotz is good stuff for that. If not there, then a good auto parts store should have the stuff you need..

Well I've ran the three most popular fuels from our lhs.. trinity monster, traxxas top fuel, and Odonnel. all 20%. I will say I like the Odonnel the best. My engine runs ALOT cooler and I got more power with it. :)

I'll 2nd that... O'Donnell seems to be one of the best....

I've been running 10%.... is this newbie juice or what?

My idle sucks. I have to set the idle stop screw so damn high that the truck almost wants to move forward when it's idling (slipper does that right?). Otherwise, it won't idle worth a sheit.

maybe the 20% would fix that?

10%, I pour 10% on my cereal. :p If you do go to 20% you will need to go through break in again.

As far as your idle, sounds like it may be too rich now that it is broken in, try leaning the engine out a little bit, then lower the idle screw. If it is running too rich you will have to turn the idle way up to keep it from loading up and stalling.

Does your carb have one needle or two?

it has the high speed needle, the low speed needle and the idle stop screw.

I had no idea I had to break it in if I moved up to 20 percent. good info!

The book says 1 and 3/4 turns on the high speed needle is where it should sit after break in.

I am a novice but if lean it out too much the sound changes to what I think means it's to lean and the engine gets hot. I have my temp gauge finally. I just need the funky battery that goes in it. I'll prolly get that today.

Maybe I should start a thread on how to lean the engine out cause I donno pewp about it. :depress:

Don't go by what the book says, thats only a starting point. There are no two engines that are going to have the exact same settings. Altitude, humidity, temperature, nitro %, as well as other things will affect tuning. As you start to lean it out a bit more on the lsn you will notice you can turn the idle screw back out, don't go too far though, thats where the temp gun comes in real handy. Just make sure you always see a nice stream of smoke coming from the exhaust under acceleration.

Heres an article from RC Nitro about engine tuning.

Nc you use skim fuel on your cereal I prefer a 2% milk aka 15% nitro and 18% Oil the high oil on my cereal acts like Fiber mmm mmm good...X

LMFAO. Well... Maybe... I don't think I need more energy, I eat my wheaties :D

BLUE THUNDER PRYDE!!! i run blue thunder 20% in my Rs4 3 and my rusty STILL hasnt come in yet but it will be runin on the same fuel (blue thunder 20%) WOHOO! i want odonnel but my lhs doesn't carry it. we only have bluethunder and some gay airplane fuel brand...lol

Towerhobbies.com has good prices on fuel ... i use Dynamite blue thunder ... i recently ordered some trinity 20% but ended up getting 30% .... havent tried it yet... still putting car back together

Since this thread has started i have switched fuels to blue thunder 20% and like it a lot better than the trinity monsterpower fuel i was using on a temp gun engines run cooler at same settings with the blue thunder

I use to run Blue thunder, didn't like it because it left a blueish-greenish die on my engine and parts. They are great fuel, I would still be using them if they didn't die the engine blue! They also smell a lot better than all the other fuel, but Trinity smell wasn't that bad.

I run blue thunder 30% and sometimes trinity 25%(just so i can tell which nitro percentage is which)

Lets have a vote: how much people use blue thunder and how much use o'donnel. Those look like the two top comptetitors. I'm BLUE THUNDER!
