hey another thread by me lol. my question is, do you guys feel a difference between different brands of nitro? i know the oil percentage is different between brands but i was wondering if i would feel a difference in performance. i run traxxas top fueal 20% and have been ever since i got into nitro rcs. what you guys think?

i do not like the traxxas fuel, seemed to gum up the engine, same with byrons. i have since done a tear down and cleaning and have put about half gal of o'donnell's 20% through it and so far i like it.

for a long time i used morgan fuels sidewinder 30%/12 % oil, then backed off to their 20%, using the exact same tuning procedures i use now, i was having lots of engine bearing issues( pitting of top of piston, going through glow plugs) must of replaced 3 or 4 ebay blocks with bearings, switched to either traxxas top fuel or morgan fuels backyard basher brand with 16% oil and voila, bearing issues went away, from that, i figured since i have never burnt up an engine, broke a rod, or any thing else catastrophic, it had to be oil content, everything else being equal, so thats my opinion on fuel......

P. S. since i dont race, why not get the most lubricative fuel available, to protect my investment?

Sounds like lean issues where causing the bearing and pitting problems. Too much oil leads to hydraulic pressure in the cylinder, stressing the internal components. Not to mention it makes cleaning the owb regular maintenance. More oil isn't better for every engine. Traxxas fuel in Traxxas engines and Byrons 20% in everything else has worked great for me and everybody else's rigs I've been involved with. O'donnel's gummed up my owb in my OS worse than Traxxas fuel.

yeah i am concerned with proper oil's.
i am putting a LRP.30 in my revo and dont want to wipe it out because of low oil content

i am going with o'donell's 20%

I have run byrons and odonnells and i like the odonnells much bettter, but i tell you what byrons has the strongest exhaust smell of any nitro fuel out there imo

I've used sidewinder, rocket science, byrons, powermaster, o'donnells and now I'm using Rich's Brew. I really like Powermaster and Rich's Brew the best. My last 3 gallons have been Rich's 12%, oil 25% nitro and IMO it's the best out there! It's cheap and very consistant! only Problem I've seen is that sometimes the LHS gets a some bottles that leak! But, that just makes them cheaper for me! If you haven't tried Rich's Brew, Try it!

yeah i have some nitro that is about a year and a half old now and its starting to gum up when i run it in my revo. its just because its getting old. I'm probably just going to stick with traxxas fuel anyway though
