I think you are correct on the Turbo Hopper. The "Grasshopper" was probably a trademark name so they had to get close but not too close. You may have hit it there mate
 
Naah, it was a grasshopper, i got a good memory for things like that, last time i saw it i was 16 in the school workshop with the back axle stripped off for a school project.

I wonder...........................................
 
Oh bugger....I even tried to see if it was maybe a Tyco and found my first RC the Tyco Bandit. I will keep looking mate....I know how these things go. Bug your sleep sometimes.
 
The Grasshopper II had the "cage" type body Doug. Why do you ask ? have u found one ?? Because THAT would do for now, perfectly.

i have in my possesion a nikko/radioshack/duratrax buggy that fits your desription. when i say this i bought a goldern arrow radioshack buggy and about 8 or 9 years ago i bought a nikko rc car from a flea market with no controller, that was back when i was playing with these, i soldered a new crystel in the motherboard and it ran for years and was one of my basher/favorite cars. it would "always" run untill finally it just died. i added this body i believe on a radioshack golden arrow. over the last few days i decided i wanted to get it running again, and i modified a duratrax servo to fit it, and added the duratrax 20 turn motor from the evader and the durratrax speed control and this thing "FLYS" i can barely control it, i just wonder why this combo wasn't as fast in my evader....
heres a picture, keep in mind i have had this for years and done a lot of modifying, i lost the wing a long time ago, so i added a wing off a kyossho sandmaster mk2 buggy.

heres a picuture, and sorry to tell you, but i don't plan on selling this thing lol

i added the yellow pin strpes, the bridgestone sticker, and the number 1 to this car a long time ago i pealed the original stickers off, the wolf was on it when i got it i left it on there, dunno if it came on there factory or not.
