Hey Guys,

Here are the latest two kits I have been working on since about August. I have finally been able to get some time to complete these two kits. This is my first stab at electrics in quite a few many years.... .I think since the Blackfoot! Well I figured I would share with you guys. They are both Associated Factory Team kits... one is the T4 and of course the 18t. Thanks for all of your help with these kits guys. The T4 is basically as it came in the kit. I have added a Novak 7.5 Brushless setup and a Hitec 625servo. That is about it so far. I am open to suggestions however. The 18T has the Tekin 6.8V Brushless setup, a Hitec servo, MIP Super Diffs, MIP CVD's, and for now the integy steering linkage setup. I do have the DP Drag link... I just have not been able to make it work for me. Well I will stop running my mouth and just post some pics. Take care guys.

Tom

How is that aluminum steering on the 18t? I just received mine but have yet to install it.

It does clear some of the slop out. Although the drag link cleared the most slop, but I had issues with it rubbing the sub chassis. I am pretty happy with the aluminum setup. It does make the truck much more controlable at high speeds, which is what I was looking for. You do have to put some thread lock on the screws that hold the steering link on though, or they will back out. I put a bit on the screw and let it dry so that it did not affect the plastic bushings. Also I put a shim behind the screw that goes into the servo... just to tighten things up a bit.

And another ? about the street tires on the mini how do you like them. I was thinking about geting some for running this weekend but dont know it they will last as long as allterrains and there grip in grass. THanks

Bryson.

Nice looking rigs you have there Tom. Congrats on the new rides!

where'd you get the tires for the 18t?

Hey grgbulldog...

I got the tires from my LHS. They are proline Road Rages. You should be able to get they just about any hobby shop or online.

Hey Bryson,

The road rage tires have awesome grip... on pavement. I don't get much grip on a grassy surface... but the 18T doesn't sit high off the ground either so running in grass I tend to bottom out and get stuck in the grass just spinning my wheels. As far as pavement wear... I have run several packs through it and I have not shown the slightest bit of wear yet. I think they hold up well.

Tom

how do you like the tekin 6.8 brushless? have you ran mamba before? if so what the comparison?

The Tekin is a sweet setup. I really like the ease of setup and the fact that the tekin setup seals the ESC. I have personally never run the Mamba setup. I have had friends that have and the speeds are really identical and they have had no problems with the Mamba either. I think both would be a great choice. I think the Tekin might be a wee bit cheaper in price. Or maybe it is the other way around.

Thanks Sweet D and Smaxxin.....

I have had these kits for some time now. I have just now finally had the opportunity to actually assemble them. My wife got me the T4 setup for my Bday way back in August, and the 18T was an Early Xmas present. I am telling you... after building two 1/8 scale nitro kits... the 1/10 scale electric was just a brezze! Everyone should have to start out building an 1/8 scale nitro kit..... then work into an electric! Kinda like learning to drive a stick shift first then the automatic. I thought the 1/8th scale kits build relatively fast.... it took me I think a week to get them built. It took me like 4 hours to build the electric kits! LOL

Tom

Thanks MW..... They are not as nice as your Mugen.... I don't have anything quite that nice in my collection. That is one sweet ride you have there. One of the finest RC's money can buy.

Looking good Tom! I have been thinking of a brushless myself.....so clean and fast I bet!!!!

Thanks Talon!

Those brushless motors are crazy fast! All I had to say was wow! Finding the right pinion setup though... that is proving to be the hard part. I am temping the motor, ESC, and battery pack after each run to find the "sweet spot" Up until now I have never worked with such a low turn motor. 10 turn has been my limit until now with the 7.5 turn.

Tom

Tom, go Lipo with these two rigs. It is like night and day, and I noticed a bit cooler motor temps, too. (don't know why that is, though)
