I just purchased a used Savage SS 4.6 and I have a few questions. First is regarding the Roto-Start. When I put it into the back of the engine and hit the switch, it seems like it is not catching. It takes some time before the roto start seems to catch and turn over the engine. Second is the Venom Fail safe. The light is blinking all the time even when the radio is turned on. Is this correct? Thirdly, I am having a hard time getting the engine to stay running while idle. I have to start the engine and give it some gas with the remote to keep it going.

Any help would be appreciated..Thanks

For the first problem it sounds like your one way bearing is slipping.
Try spraying some engine cleaner on it and see if that helps.
As for the other problems,I don't have a good answer.

it is probably not your one way bearing it is probably you clutch nut is loose. Also if your truck is not running very well because maybe it id running to rich just close ur top speed screw a 8th of an inch

I have not looked at a savage engine, but do you think you could have put in on backwards (the one-way)?

It's possible to put the one-way in backwards, but not really likely. I'd guess more at the one-way slipping. This could be because of excess oil, or a worn starter shaft.
