New to the nitro scene, I actually just started my truck for the second time today. I have a t maxx 2.5 (not the R because it doesn't have a blue head...right?), it is bone stock except the body. I just ordered a 3.3 engine for it, I bought the t maxx used. I have two questions for you, first when I go to switch it to reverse sometimes it go in and sometimes it doesn't. The same is true when I go to go back to forward....is there some adjustment that has to be made. My second question is when I get it started it runs great, but when I go from WOT to stop it stalls and is a bugger to get started again. I have an EZ start and a new glow plug in it. I am running 20% 12% fuel, it smokes only when I gun it. I think from how hard it is to restart that it is loading with fuel, where is a good starting position for the adjustment screw? Any help would be awesome...

Thanks guys

Welcome to the rc hobby its a great choice but at times with a nitro you will get pissed off, to anserwer your question though what you want to do is, reduce to the idle screw that is the one on the side by the muffler and you want to turn it out just a little bit, that puts a smaller gap in the carb so it gets less air. You want it to where it will idle and shift into reverse, if you have trobles starting it when you reduce the idle turn the dile on your controler so it increases the idle, and then turn it back to where it will idle and shift. What traxxas did was they made the transmission so it would be at a slow enough idle to where it would strip the gears in the trans out when you put it in reverse. That should take care of the shifting problem.

Now for the stalling promblem what I say you would want to do is, I sometimes have that problem and what I do is when I am slowing down I will hit the gas brake, hit the gas brake, that seems to work for me, or when it does that I drive it wide open down my road to clean it out, let us now how it works.

thanks I'll give the idle a try, I'll also try blipping the throttle when slowing down too.
