I've recently picked up a Savage X 4.6 that's been modded a bunch and with that I'm a bit uncertain as to the engine base settings. It has an HPI stamped block but an Axial heatsink and the HSN has a black plastic thumbscrew thing instead of the 'set to flush' screw you see in the training videos online.

I checked a few sites and didn't find anything definitive. What might the base settings be for this setup?

Thanks in advance!

dave

BTW I got a decent Savage X 4.6 and a Team Associated RC10GT w a new OS 18 on it and they both run great.

I paid $250 for the pair out the door as they weren't running at the time. A little tlc, a handful of little parts (nothing expensive thankfully...) a few trips to Hobbytown and we're in business.

Did I get an ok deal? I know the mods could sway the value a lot but just given your average setup what's the consensus?

That deal doesn't sound too bad. You say they run? Just let them warm up and tune em. No reason to mess with the needles drastically. They have to be fairly close if it starts.

ok thanks, yes they run and start pretty good... I can tell I'm probably way rich but thanks to youtube I'm pretty certain what I need to do. I think I also to to reset the 1-2 shift as I can't get a wheelie out of it and I am thinking it's dropping into second too early.
