Hey everyone. This is my first post.

I am going to ordering a Savage 25 within the next two weeks and I have a question about wheels/tires. I will drive my truck primarily off-raod. However, the University that I go to has some huge and well maitained parking lots that I would love to play around in. I won't be bashing very hard at all (at first anyway) because my truck has to last me pretty well. I won't be racing at all. Just having some fun. I plan on getting the Pro Line Road Rage tires. I can't decide whether I need the 40 series or the regular size though. Please take a look at the steering mods that I am going to do before I even run it and let me know which size I should get:

Reverse Module
Hitec HS-645MG Servo Torque Metal Gear J
Ofna Servo Saver w/Bearings
Ofna Aluminum Servo Arm
6V 1100 mAh receiver hump pack

I will be doing other mods like a MotorSaver filter, Venom Fail Safe, in-line fuel filter, and maybe a tuned pipe. But, I mainly wanted to list the steering related ones.

Based on the steering mods listec which size tire do you think that I should go with? Would the gear listed handle the 40 serise size ok?

While we're here let me ask you about wheels. I am considering the Velocity 6 pre-mounts, Velocity 6 not premounted, and the new HPI Q6 wheels (I like these because I don't necessarily want chrome). The HPI ones won't fit the 40 series wheels though, right? Are any of the ones listed any stronger than the other? Keep in mind that the truck isn't going to be abused much at all. At first anyway. Would I need to take the pre-mounts apart to drill a few holes in the wheels as recomended or do they already have them? I have also been considering the Maximizer beadlocks (plastic of course).

I would appreciate all the feedback that you can come up with. Thanks and go easy on the newbie.

Welcome to RCNT. The steering setup you plan on going with should handle the 40 series wheels with no problems. The wheels should already have a hole drilled in them. I know a few who run the maximizer beadlocks. They said getting the tires on can be a PITA, but once they do it looks great.

ordered 2 pairs of the 40series road rage.
but i got all stock steering so i will prob break something
if you do all those steering mods becareful there is a good chance you will flip it.
get something that is gonna widen the stance a bit so it will corner like a champ.

Kinda curious about this statement. What makes you think that the steering set-up he listed will cause the truck to flip?

The suggestion on widing the stance is a good one. 40 series tires do that by giving a wider tire on a wider rim. I run IMEX JumboMaxx wheels on my Savage and the footprint of the truck is almost a perfect square. Perhaps a little wider than long. The IMEX JumboMaxx and ProLine 40 series are about the same width.

I dont know either just was thinkin how my savage rolls over pretty easily with the stock servos and such.

I'm kind of a newb so bare with me.

Thanks for the help everyone. I am going to go with the 40 series Road Rages and 40 series Velocity 6 wheels. Thanks again.
