hey guys just wanted to say I'm new to these tread. but theres a real qquestions I'm wondering about wether to get the hpi rs4 3 type ss or the rtr traxxas 2.5 4-tec. basiclly i wanted to have a nitro drifter since u only see people really just using electric. well what are your opinions because I've seen alot of people post some bad things about the 4-tec. thanks guys

You're gonna go through A LOT of tires! I set up my car for drift briefly...it's hard as hell to drift a nitro car.

I mostly spun out and crashed. Broke a shock tower while I was at it.

The 4tec was my first nitro car! BIG MISTAKE!! run as fast as you can from the 4tec, Get a NTC3, or the rs4, youll be glad you did!

4-tec is pretty much good for one thing. Going straight really fast. Can't handle worth crap. Which means if you want to set it for drifting, you'll most likely just spin out. NTC3 is more balanced. Go with that or the RS4.

True! but it will only do this a few times! then its back to the LHS!

LOL.... So true.... My brother had the first gen 4-tec. That thing was fast, but it wasn't worth a crap on the track. Then you got the TRX.15 they had. That carb sucked so bad. Not sure what they got now, but it's still a 4-tec. Steer clear.

thanks for the replys guy..thanks i really see that the 4-tec is going to be a no forsure welll time to head out to hobby people:LoL:

well guys went to hobby people and now I'm stuck in a new rut...
i had 350 bucks in hand thinking I'm going to buy the hpi rs4 3 type ss but then i decided to take a look at the ntc3....and by my surprise it look awsome and it is on sale.. now my new questions is between the type ss and the ntc3...thanks guys tyet agian

go for the ntc3, you will be very happy with it . I have a old gen 4 tec that I installed a novarossi mt12 and tried to race it . hard as hell to come in top 5 . pertty much made it a drag car with a .21 . its just show toy that is really $%# fast now.:)

You should get a NTC3. Its a good car, thats what i have. Its a good beginner car because you can put that thing through hell and it want break. Atleast mine hasn't :) (knock on wood). Like today i ran into a ditch going full speed (with the body off), yet nothing broke, although my battery pack flew a good 30 ft.

i have a rs4 3 ss and so far i had no trouble ( exept for the time i ran it into a curb). i havent drove the nt3, but i also had people tell me its a good car. I think they are both pretty good and youll be happy with either

Both are really good cars. Both have their postives and negatives. Just make sure the LHS has a lot of hop up parts or spare parts for when you break them. I think the NTC3 is a little better balanced than the HPI. Trying to remember with my friend's. Either choice is a good one.

the ntc3 and SS , i had that same debate a month ago.

last week i went out and got an NTC3. out of all the research i did i found outthe SS is pretty much just a basher model, not a bad car at all but to race it would need so much more to have a good chance at winning. the NTC3, well it is more designed for racing out of the box so it has an advantage .

anyway, i am buying an engine this week and looking forward to driving it.

although I am selling my NTC3 right now, I would most likley get a tc3 kit in the future, I really like this car, other than a few small design flaws that I can work around, I have nothing bad to say about it, just an easy and great car to work on!

HARD TIRES. MAke Sure You get really hard tires on back and hard or medium on front. That way they will spin and still hold up. Come at a turn wide open throttle(1) left off and nail the break(2?) left off and over steer some(2?) counter steer and nail it hard(3)...adjust ur carb for more throttle response than top end, add a 2speed to make up for that....and.....find a nice soft place to practice, lol
