I'm just trying to get my gearing right, and i am goin to be putting in a 13t clutch bell and a 52 tooth spur tonight and see what it does. All i do is bash so i dont care about top end, i really want to have low grunt on demand. Do you think this will be to drastic of a change from the stock 15t clutch and 49t spur? Works out to be about 4:1 on the new setup comming from 3.2:1 on the old setup. I'm also installing my reverse module, high torque steering servo and putting the sf2 in for the throttle servo. Do you think the sf1 will suffice for the reverse module? Sorry for the random post with all the questions but I'm new and these are the first mods to my savage (i stripped the spur last night and went wild hahah)
 
You should get more low end. You'll most likely wheelie if you're tuned properly. Just remember that you can't steer without the wheels on the ground, though.

As for your servos. Good that you're putting a high-torque steering servo in. I'd then take the old steering servo and put it on the throttle/brake. And use the remaining one for the reverse. Don't need tons of torque to shift it. But you'll want some power to clamp the brakes.
 
Thats exactly what i did, i can't wait to get home and throw it together, they are doing consturction infront of my house and its a freaking playground hahaha
 
well i got it together and i wasn't very satisfied truck didnt seem any different than before, i got it all tuned in and running good but couldnt find low end torque. well after two tanks of tuning and bashing the truck felt really sloppy so i stopped in and thought the clutch was smoked because it was revving but not catching right away. but tuns out the slipper clutch was too loose and it smoked it. So looks like i have to pull it apart again. i thought i set it right. i went to full tight then back it off a hair. but seems i was little too loose. is there an easy way to get the spur gear out other than gettin the motor out of the way?
 
Savage 4.5 just tightened the slipper up and went for another spin but spin it did. it was fine for abour 20 mins then started revving. i dont know whats goin on but i had it to FULL tight and it still spun the clutch must be fried. and to think i just put it in this afternoon. :( oh well ill get it torn apart tonight and throw another slipper in it and run it full tight. i dont know why but it isnt holding shiet.
 
Put a new slipper plate and a new locknut when you replace the spur. All those parts are really cheap. Sometimes the nyloc nuts are no good from the factory, that's why I suggest replacing it. They back off slowly while your driving, which turns into a melted mess like you have. Those slipper plates warp and glaze over when you overheat them like that, a new one is like 2 bucks.
That's where all your wheelie power went. A stock 4.6 savage will lift the front end easily with 17/47 gearing.
 
well i got it figured out, when i changed the spur gear the little brass washer was stuck in the old spur gear. and i left it out. so it slipped the slipper. put it back together with all the right parts and a new spur and she is good to go, but the shocks are too sloppy so it just squats. but it sure does rip now
