I decided that I wanted to get the reverse gear option for my truck. I bought the reverse gear and installed it, I assume that something else is needed to use it cause it dosent work. What am I missing?

Also, when I got the truck the motor would run but wouldnt engage the tranny. I replaced the plastic clutches w/ aluminum ones and that cured it. However, I am still having problems w/ the clutches. Less than 30 minutes of run time the aluminum clutches melted down. I seems like the carb is leaking fuel and getting the clutches wet so they will not engage. Anyone else have this problem? I have been taking it apart and using brakclean to clean/dry the bell out and works ok until the next time.

One more question.............. when I start the truck it wants to take off, I have to engage the brake to use the spin start. How is the remote supposed to be set up? Right now its pull back for brake, neutral/forward to accelerate. Seems weird to me. I got this truck used so past is unknown.

Thanks in advance for the help.

For starters the throttle servo setting is reversed, have a look at the manual for the radio and you can change the setting so that pull it for throttle push for brakes.

As for the reverse you will need a servo and the linkage for it, stock is a JR 270 servo and the linkage can be found on ebay, you will also need a 3 channel radio to control the additional servo, the stock one is only two one for steering and one for throttle / brakes.

Last I would check the trim settings for the throttle (check the manual) and make sure that the throttle linkage is setup correctly as it is in the trucks manual..

Congrats on the truck and let us know how it goes

Thanks, I have been looking for the radio instructions. It sucks that you have to buy a new radio to use reverse? Ill check the throttle, thanks again for the heads up.
