Got the X all broke in and the LHS did the final tweek and tuning, but we can't get it to shift into second gear.........is there a trick to make this happen aside from following the directions in the manual???? The adjuster screw is backed out as far as the Hobby Shop Tech would dare go and still nothing.....
should I be concerned or is this something that will begin happening as the truck gets used some more?

It could be the truck is in 2nd the whole time. Try tightening the shift screw 1/4 turn at a time, no more than 3 and a half turns.

Now I had not thought of that. This thing is popping wheelies now, what will it do if it is in second and I am able to find first, do backflips???
Hahahahahaha

I will give that a try.
Thanks for the idea

Sounds like your LHS isn't very good. Go back to all of the default settings as shown in the manual and tweak from there.

It'll definately wake it up quite a bit more. I have the three speed in mine, and slobbering rich, just a tap of the throttle makes it want to pick up the front end.

I would definately reset the shift point in the trans. Stock is 3 1/2 turns from the screw being "flush" with the top of the threads, or there-about. It may take 1/4 turn either way to get it in the ball park.

I was actually thinking of going to the 3 speed........are you pleased enough with it that makes the extra hundred worth the change?

It definately adds to the low end of the truck. To install it, you'll have to take the trans completely out of the truck and replace the lower gear. But once you get the conversion done, nothing is as cool as hearing the truck shift twice.

have you tried adjusting the three screws on the gear box, i wached the DVD what you get with it and it tells you how to do the gearbox on it, i was doing so i could break my savage x engine :-)

I finally got a good tank thru my savage the other day. Aside from the truck wheelie-ing over onto its lid (this is geared 15/49 with the three speed, MGT tires, and the X's F4.1 engine), the slipper kept coming loose (the motor has _that_ much torque). I've since put threadlock on the nut, but haven't had a chance to run it.

It has the dual pad slipper on it.
