I run a savage and on-roads but i found a cheap kyosho 7.5 inferno, I put the stock engine from my savage on it, the .25 that comes on the RTR kits, the buggy runs great and its quick as hell, i'm also running a 14 teeth spur gear.
the question is,
when i had the engine on the savage i was running around 3 turns on the HSN, now running the engine on the buggy the HSN i need to closed it to around 1.5 turn open, the buggy runs great and the temps are around 210*, why the change on the settings? is it because the weight? I just want to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong or that this is normal.
other than that i got to say that i love driving my buggy, i never though i was going to enjoy as much i was kind of being closed mind it about buggies.
thanks for any imput.

i think its becuz of the weight the more weight you have the faster it will heat up the less weight you have the longer it takes to heat up i did the same thing when i put my buggy motor in my maxx and found out it was running around 350ish and i had to fatten it up alot compared to the buggy if this isnt the reason please let me know also

well its the weight AND the geering. The savage has a "transmission" if you will and a buggy only has a spur and a center diff. Thats it, no gears. there alot less rotating mass and and engine takes alot less force to get the chassis moving so you dont need as much nitro to go just as fast if not faster. So, I say, as long as your temps are in the 200's your perfectly fine. I would even go a little leaner. I used to run my s-25 reliably at around 230-240.

cool thanks fellas, that was quick!!!
