New thermo insulator / carb fit question

I just replaced the thermal insulator that goes around the carb on my os 18tz since the old one had a few cracks in it.
After putting the carb back into the engine i notice the fit is not nearly as tight as it was before, i was thinking maybe because it is new and has yet to be heated but not sure.

It actually goes inside the case and the carb slides into it!..is it the right one?..did you seal it when you installed it?

yes i purchased the correct one, and yes i used lucky 7 engine seal around the carb.
