I am getting a T-maxx 2.5. I have wanted one forever and now that i am finally getting one, I have so many ideas that I can't think of just doing one thing with it. My friend is the owner of xXPLUMCRACY RC RACEWAYXx and I want to race, but I am also wanting to pull. So, I have a few questions...........
1. Will Losi's Big Bore Shocks fit a T-maxx 2.5?
2. What is a good combination engine to do both pulling and racing?
3. RPM composite plastic or Aluminum Alloy?
4. Is there a good ratio of gearing to use where I am able to do both without swapping pinions and other parts?
5. (Not A Question) LiPo batteries are dangerous! I accidentally cut the side of my MaxAmps.com LiPo battery and it instantly melted itself to nothing. And, never plug them in backwards, they catch on fire.

If you are going to race a maxx you may have to remove the reverse gear from the trans. I like the RPM stuff over AL because it flex and absorb the energy while AL will bend or send the impact right to the chassis.

def do a motor swap if you plan to race and especially if you want to pull with it! and for pullin i would get the extended chassis as well, make reverse gear your first gear and mount it "backwards" so the engine is in the front! really bad way to go for racing though.

Without investing right around a grand, the T Maxx won't be good at either. You can't expect any rig to do double-duty on such extreme opposite applications anyways. Not to throw your idea down, though! It would be a helluva project to make a Maxx into either type of rig. Keep researching both pulling and the racing sides of Mt's. I believe your expectations are gonna lead to a let down if you expect a maxx, a dated one at that, to do both of these duties. Research is now your best friend and keep askin' questions. Best of luck.

Thanks guys for the info. I will still be searching for new stuff to get this thing planned out right. I will probably end up sticking with the RPM stuff simply because of what CosmosGoat said about the Al's transfer of energy straight to the chassis and I am still wondering if the Big Bore shocks will fit on it and if they are "race-able", because i think they look SICK! on all of the MTs.......thanks again guys.

You can make 1/8th shocks fit. Someone will chime in with what ones you need. Traxxas big bores are great shocks, too. You use 8 of them like the stockers, but they're aluminum and tough as nails. No need to worry about blowing caps off from running heavier shock oil.
