I have a t-maxx but i've loved buggies for years. I think its finally time to get one but I don't know which one to get. I've been reading the threads about these buggies for the past week and i've narrowed it down to these two. I need a very durable buggy for bashing and the occasional race(not serious but just for fun). Which would you recomend? Does anybody know the topspeed of both these cars? I heard that the RTR lighting only goes 30mph:nono: , kinda dissapointing. I hope the pro version is faster:breakdown . Anywho all opinions are welcome but I'm on a tight budget so thats why I'm not getting the hyper 7pcr or any of ofna's other top of the line buggies.

hey,
i would reccomend the lightning if you want the cheapest car.

the .21 bb (lightning engine) powers the stock savage to 31mph. the savage weighs about 12 pounds while the lightning weighs closer to 8.

do not get the lightning rr

it was hotbodies first make ever and there were some problems with wings, wheels, tires, diffs, shocktowers, and wing mounts

i would reccomend:

lightning pro $290
airtronics mx3 $100
hitec hs645 steering servo $40
1200 mah rx battery $20

and that is the same price as the swift

i guess its up to you wether with both setups for $450 which one you would like.

i think they will race pretty evenly

the lightning pro has hopup ability from kyosho and lightning pro 2

as for bashing either will be fine

swift has mugen hopup ability

its up to you

either would be fine.

I have the lightning rtr. Mine goes faster than 30 with the stock 21bb. The first day i got it and i brought it up to my friends house tho drive. After i broke the thing in i started to tune it. I tuned it but it was still running rich and there was still alot of gas coming out of the exhaust. Also shortly after that my friend was driving down the street with his dad in his truck and they were going 35mph and i was right behind then and i had to slow down or i would have went right under them. The kid came down with a radar gun and it was going 40mph. But shortly i am going to get an 8 port and i will be running way faster than the 21bb. So it is a good buggy. If you dont want the 21bb if you get it sell it on ebay and you will get like $85-95 for it then just buy a faster engine. Also the only thing that i broke so far was the wingstay and i cracked the body. I only broke the wingstay because of a bad jump. But just get the hb lightning pro. It is better then the hb lightning rr rtr and i am very pleazed with it. So just get one they are to good of an offer foe$290.

Good stuff, thanks for all the input. I'm still undecided but u guys helped alot! I'm not allowed to spend any more mmoney on rc cars so ill havbe to trade some of my cars for a buggy. I'll probably end up not getting one but keep the replies coming.

Niiiiiiiiiice:worship: Is that urs or just a pic from the factory? Either way it looks awsome. I kinda talked myself out of getting one but now i want one again:flamer:

Beleive me, I've watched millions on videos, that is how i got hoooked!!:hamster:
Hmmm, mayb i havent seen all of them, thats alot of links!! Ill check them out.

I just read a post about a mbx pro and how good it was. They raved about its durability and the .26 that came with it. It is also cheaper. You guys have any experience with this buggy?Good? Bad? And which is more race ready? Thanks for all the help.

For the reasons you want it I'd say Lighting. For more of a serious racing I'd say Swift but you I've got to plugg in something here ::cough:: Storm ::cough:: would be good for either. LoL

lol, the storm was one on the top of the list....for dream buggies. But its too expensive:flaming: Stupid parents:whip:

You can get a RTR and other small things for under 500...maybe i looked overhow much you were willing to spend. Hmmm....check ebay. Theyhave some nice Storms from time to time in box never opened for dirt cheap.

sweetmaxx- the ultra mxp pro is the cheapest (worthwhile) buggy there is. I'm not saying its bad, its a very good deal, but i f you have plans for racing, forget it. if you want to race, step up to the lightning.

bashing cheap - ultra mbx pro
bashing medium - 9.5 violater
bashing expensive - sweetmaxx

racing cheap - lightning/swift
racing medium - hyper 7 pcr rtr

P.S.

the storm is closer to a drizzle

hahahahhha wasteland.

Actually my tmaxx isnt the money bomb most ppl think it is. YOu just have to learn how to drive and jump it and get rpm parts. Then its bomb proof!
I' ve been sewarching ebay for weeks on a good deal on any buggy. Havent found too many on a storm. The biggest problem I have is that I canbt spend any money to get a buggy, i have to trade. This also means that it has to be completely rtr. After i get it i can drop money into it, its just getting it thats the problem. I will really take any of the buggies listed if someone wants to trade for my cars, but just in case I still have more questions.

There are no clubs around where i live so my friends and i had to make our own track. SO only a semi-racing buggy would work fine. The track is more of a bashing track so pLease tell me which you think is the most durable buggy for huge jumps; mbx pro, lighting pro, swift racing, and ill throw in the gs storm just for wasteland. I dont know why but it feels like I'm leaning more towards the mbx or swift buggy. The only reason is becuasr of their engines. The .21bb in the lighting isnt too uplifting. My friend has one in his savage and it can be a pain to tune let alone its inferioir performance to the other engines. And as you kno, because of my money situation i can't upgrade to a better engine right away so a good stock engine is .:whhooo: (just like my T:breakdown )

Truthfully...If you want my honest opion...keep ur truck. I'd love to see another buggy owner int his world but if it means giving up your truck I just wouldnt do it unless i was going into serious racing. I like my buggy and I can out trucks on alot of my bashing courses but its just plain fact that a truck can take crazy abuse(my cousin jumping 3 day old savage down concreate 9 stairs ont to concreate) When I'm out bashing with these big truck guy with my Storm, I dont ahve a problem keeping up with them with just my single speed trans but thens theres the ground clearence issue. A truck can jump large stuff and still land wrong and roll away....Ususally one that buggy flips....your days done if ur at top speeds. This may be not what you wanna hear but think about it some more....the truck that you are use to with bomb proof parts sound like the way to stay for awhile. Save ups ome money on the side and then buy a buggy so u cna have the best of worlds as I do with my RS4 and Storm

Ahhh wastleland, i most have confused you. I said my t-maxx is bromb proof and there is no wasy I'm trading it. I have too other cars that i want to trade. SOrry for not being more clear.

Bug in the rug, you keep on giving me more choices to hurt my poor little brain!! Now that the violater is in the bunch, how about the 9.5 mbx or just plain old 9.5?

Sorry for confusing you man, lol. I thought u were wanting to trade your max and i couldnt comprehend i was having spasims and my mom was asking if i wa sokay, lol. Get a damn storm or I'm posting more Scare face quote and pics. j/k nah the best thing i can say is get on yahoo and read as many reviews possible for both cars from companys and users

sry, but you said you wanted to bash

these are the bashers:

ultra mbx pro $330
9.5 mbx $430
9.5 violater $400

i think they all have the same engine

if you ever wanted to club race/non-serious then automatically get the 9.5 mbx

if you just want to bash but dont have much money get the ultra mbx pro

if you just want to bash but you got the cash go for the violater

hint: go for the violater
