I'm pretty sick of the original steering set up on my original E Maxx, as all of you could probably imagine. I'm wanting to upgrade to the newer style bell crank with the built-in servo saver. I've read that it will bolt right on, but I figured I should ask a few questions before I order it. I figure the 4908 bell crank, linkage and servo horn is all I'll need. But what about the shafts that the bell crank swivels on? Are they the same as the new ones and should they be replaced for slop-free steering? The current bell crank rotates on plastic bushings so I'm thinking there should be little to no wear on the shafts. Anything else I'm missing? This Maxx has 4908 parts from the diffs out. Thanks as always.
 
Go with the aluminum Traxxas #4944 to remove flex and change the plastic bushings to rubber sealed bearings. Here is a Proline that I use on my 2.5.

I'm not saying any of this fits - I am just assuming you got your info correct.
 
I run that Proline kit on my E Maxx and it works great, The only thing is with the old school E Maxx Chassis you have to cut off the steering tab things that are molded into the chassis so it is flat, not sure if you would have to do that with the new E Maxx steering linkage.
 
Thanks fellows. I'll go with the proline kit, because of the higher quality. I'll post any mods I have to make so the next guy has some info on the subject. Thanks again.

This is what I did as well on my old Emaxx. Worked perfectly.
 
Thanks robmob. They're a lot more fun when you can control them! My steering is so shot that you can slide a 1/16 allen wrench in between the bell crank and the posts. It doesn't like to go straight at all.
