I am about to assemble my new SS and I was looking over the parts. I noticed that the two diffs seem kind of tight when I rotate the input shaft. I am not touching the output shafts so the left & right outputs are rotating at the same speed. It feels like the diff is binding a bit, but I do not see anything physically wrong with the exposed gears. Is this normal?

I hope that you're doing the 4 spider mod before you install them into the gear box. If you don't it won't be very long and you'll be tearing your truck down to get back in there to fix it.

Mine were a little notchy at first too. I'm not sure about the severity of yours but mine would turn a 1/2 turn smoothly then the second 1/2 would feel a little tight. After the first few break-in tanks they spun smoothly. I havent done the spider gear mod yet mainly because i haven't had any durability issues but i may do it soon to make sure i don't have any in the future.

They feel notchy because they've got to wear in hence the break in instructions telling you to drive in circles for two tanks.
