hey guys any body know what i did wrong filling my new shocks with 15w oil,now they seem to stay stuck in the compressed state after use?do i still have trapped air?to full of oil?wrong baffles?

I would also look for bent shafts.
Take them apart till all you have is the bare shaft. Find a flat surface like a glass table top and roll them. If they aren't perfectly flat, replace them.

I have never had a Sav. so the wt of oil isn't something I can comment on.

Usually they are too full of oil when they don't come back.

I thought that ment they are not full enough. Cause if they are compleatly full of oil and then I compress the shock. the shockshaft also goes in to the shock and the shock shaft is taking up space in side the shock body and the oil has no where to go so it is pressurized and when the shockshaft is released the oil pressure is what pushes the shock shaft out.

Typically I'll build my shocks so that they'll rebound about 1/2" when filled with oil. Seems to work for me. If they don't come out at all, you may need to add a little more oil.

your shocks should compress fully and decompress at least to half the lentgh. if they dont compress or are hard to compress yu have to much oil in them. when you filled the shocks did you move the shock shaft up and down to release some of the air bubbles in them? when you fill the shocks and get the air to the top let the shock set for about 15 minutes to insure all the air bubbles have been cleared.

yea i did work them lots i thought but maybe not enough, here's what i did
i filled up the shock with the shaft compressed totally, after it was full i worked it in and out around 6-8times,i then toped it off with the shaft still
compressed, the instructions said the shaft should push out when the cap is put on,it didn't but the oil was in a bubble when i put the cap on.i will take them apart and try once again..thx for all the help guys really appricated.

hey guys...i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong i've redone it numerous times like you said, but the shocks still seem to be stuck, the shafts aren't bent but it seems after i push down on the truck a couple of times they do seem to work,i think i'm not filling them right, after they are compressed fully,do i top of the shock to the top agian then apply the cap?some people said to only fill to the top of the bladder is this correct if so then they are way to full?

so they are 15wt oil, that seems kinda low, maybe try using a diff oil like a 30wt

Try this....with the shock shaft fully extended, fill your shock with oil until about 1/4 from the top. Next move the shaft up and down SLOWLY 10-15 times to clear any bubbles. At this point I put all the shocks inside a coffee mug and let them sit for an hour or two to let any remaining bubbles to surface. Now take the shock and fully compress them. While keeping the shock compressed with your hand, fill them up completely to the top and slowly twist on the shock cap. If you do this correctly the shaft should not rebound more than 1/4" or so.

I am assuming you have checked the red o ring at the bottom of the shock body to make sure it isn't worn, torn or pinched.

maybe i didn't mention but these shocks were NIP,so i hope the bottoms wern't tore or worn, but i'm going through your process and will let you know how it works out...thx deisel

well it worked i difenatly had air trapped in the shock, after i finished shooting
oil every where in my work area the shocks worked great...thx again guys
