I'm picking up a new savage x 4.6. Does anyone have any advice I should know? Or tips on things I should do before it even gets fuel? And last but not least is this truck really worth the money???

Is this your first nitro or just your first monster truck? If your first nitro I would pick up a temp gun for tuning...

It's worth the money, for sure. Savys are huge fun. They can be broken, but usually out of stupidity. I'm not sure what comes with the X these days, but most of us have upgraded the steering servo and servo saver, hump pack, bullet proof diffs from the Flux, and so on. Stock out of the box if you're just bashing in the yard it won't really break anything, just follow the #1 rule of R/C: Never lose line of sight! That's the easiest way to break your Savy (or anything for that matter)...

HTH...

Currently I have a older tmaxx 25. Its a fun truck but doesn't seem to hold up to abuse ie bent and broken shocks, bulkhead cracked, front lower arm broke ect ect ect. I bought it used from a friend and I don't think he really took care of it. So I just wanna start fresh. I am fairly new to nitro so I'm trying to learn without looking like a total fool...
P.S. should I seal a brand new motor?

Read the instructions thoroughly. Also do all the reading you can stand, here, in the Savage Forum. Just read and read, and try to control your excitement.:) You made a very good choice.

OHHH Yeah its worth the money. I got mine used the older X model and the previous owner wasn't exactly nice to it. Still the truck was intact and completely functional. I upgraded a few things like dual disc brakes and bulletproof diffs 3 speed with high speed 3rd gear and a new engine (by choice not necesstiy). I have ten times as much fun with my Savy than i did with my T-MAXX. I have tried I mean really tried to break it and it just keeps on begging for more. Very well built quality RC truck you won't be disappointed. Just be patient the break in process can be frustrating and a little time consuming but if you do it by the book and follow some of the advice on this forum you will be rewarded with a great little machine!

No it won't hurt to seal a brand new engine. In fact most guys seal them before the first drop of fuel is put through them.

Def seal it I did on traxxas motors and it made a big difference and the savage is def worth it id say out the box upgrade the diffs everything I've read says that's first to go so get the bulletprooof ones to save hassel in the long run and follow the break in procedure to the dot
I got a temp gun right when I got into nitro so id also suggest that it lowers the learnin curve substantially and its easier to tune with it cuz it gives a more definite answer in those times when ur unsure on ur mixture
I've got the 2.5 maxx also and I just got a savage flux and all I can say is if the nitros even close to the flux on 4s lipos be prepared to collect your jaw from the grass after it drops when you see the acceleration and beating that thing takes compared to ur maxx lol its a blast and also repairing things like a arms and hub carriers is much easier and quicker as well from what I've experienced gl and let us know what happens

The comma(,) and period(.) keys are right by the Alt key. Sheesh.... A nitro won't have the rip of lipo/brushless, but it will definitely get up and boogie. Your gonna love it.

Lol, sorry I suck with punctuation, but ill try n throw some in from now on. I just type so fast since I'm at work I forget to use em. My apologies for the run on sentence. Oh, and I'm on my phone so they're above my alt key lol.
