Savage 3.5 “Classic” – best value for money

The huge success of the Savage began with the release of the ground-breaking Savage 21 in September 2002
The new updated Savage 3.5 RTR is based on the classic Savage 21 that has proven its power, performance, durability and strength since it’s first release.
The new Savage 3.5 RTR has been updated with all the latest Savage improvements to make it even stronger!

The HPI Nitro Star 3.5 engine is now equipped with 2-needle composite carburettor. This redesigned engine, with two needles instead of three, makes it much easier for beginners to set up and tune. The new composite material makes the engine run smoother at all temperatures.

The Savage 3.5 RTR is ready to run, equipped with a high quality 3-channel radio (prepared for reverse module). Only a few steps are required to start the car for the first time. The enclosed HPI RC-Car DVD is the perfect introduction to Nitro powered RC-Cars for all beginners.

The following updates improve the overall strength and durability of the chassis and drive train:

* 4 Bevel Diff
* 3 piece Clutch
* Updated 2 Speed
* Cam type steering servo saver
* Aluminium Cast Brake Hub
* Add washers on rear outside tie-rod
* New Throttle return spring & throttle servo saver spring

The engine will benefit from the following updates:
* Composite Carburettor - part #1462
* New Air Filter - part #87198

We’ve also have added some new features to give the Savage 3.5 a new cool look!:

* 7755 Nitro GT-1Painted Body (M. CANDY BLU/SIL/BLK)
* 73915 Blue TVP Chassis and #86153 Blue Roll Bar
* 3117 6 Spoke Shiny Chrome Wheel
* Black Shock Springs (part#6749)

Savage 3.5 – the best “value for money” Savage
ever!

I don't know what they'd bring back the 21BB but I like the new body and the new wheels too.

Its supposedly the 'Value" Savage lol. The 25 RTR is pretty decent and I don't know why anyone would want the old .21BB anymore.

Unless there is a huge price difference I can't see people buying this one compared to the .25 rtr or the .28ss.

Its the 28ss package with a smaller engine pretty much.

Guys,

The press release for the Savage 3.5 (.21) was from HPI Europe. HPI USA has no immediate plans to offer that model for sale in North America.

Do they not have the .25 RTR, or SS in Europe? So why would anyone buy this if the other two options are available? I know I wouldn't. Not to mention I think the blue chassis looks like crap, especially with all the other purple stuff. I think someone at hpi is color blind and taking repackaging lessons from traxxas. i.e. s-maxx, sportmaxx, t-maxx, how many ways can you repackage the same stuff? IMO this is a step backward for the Savage.

If it is budget priced, I could see why someone would want it. It would allow you to get your foot in the door for a lower price. And you can always perform upgrades later on.

I have seen tons of threads on different boards where ppl are looking for trade-in deals, hobby shops with layaway, and 3 wishes from a leprechaun so they can get their hands on some of the more expensive rc cars. So I can definitely see a market for a budget priced rc, especially one as cool as the savage. :)

I could see it too. Getting a "budget priced" RC vehicle you would be able to upgrade as you can afford it.
As opposed to a budget rc vehicle that would just be broke all the time and no upgrades available for it.

I like the updates they are putting on them. HPI is improving on an already great vehicle. I had to do all of that to my RTR. Without this forum, I would have been lost. :clap:
Maybe they have improved the .21 engine too. The .25 isn't that hot of an engine. Don't get me wrong, I like it.
Looks like most of the guys here are going to a wasp. Think I will too as soon as I can afford it.

Well, the Savage 25 RTR is also updated (see my other post of today), at least in Europe... So all the updates you will find in the Savage 3.5 are now also included in the Savage 25. The price of the separate .21 and .25 engines is about the same, so tell me anyone would buy the Savage 3.5. I mean it cannot be much cheaper than the Savage 25... Or am I mistaken???

Was the .21 that bad? Found a vid of it earlier. (Can't find it now.) Some one post it if ya can find it. Didn't think my .25 was any faster.
The .25 isn't that hot of an engine. A decent .21 would smoke my .25 RTR. If they upgraded the .21....
I know my 24/7 would smoke a stocker. (30 bucks cheaper, too)
Big thing right now is the .28 Savage. Big deal!!! Don't figure their .28 will touch the wasp from what I have seen. I can't afford to buy everything they come out with. So i'm just kicked back... watching the forum.... And looking for something that works...
Face it guys. If someone figured out how to get a 350 Chevy in one of these,
Somebody else would put a 427 in theirs. :cheers:

As far as I can see, the only upgrade for the .21 is a new carb. The updated .25 has also a new carb...
