Hey guys, nice to meet you all.

I'm new and going to buy a new truck on the 5th. It's between
the savage 21, savage 25, and the t-max 21. any help would be greatly appreciated. There is only a $20.00 difference between
the savage 25 and the rest so i'm leaning that way. It seemes that you guys would be the best to ask besides someone trying to sell me something. you seem very knowledgable about these
trucks, and i'm sure i'll be askin alot of questions. and maybe in the future can actually be of some help to someone else. thanks again guys.

Ok if i was you i wouldnt get the savage 21. The savage 25 is better it is the new "21" But the t-maxx is alos good. But since i own a savage ss i am going to say get a savage. BUt really it is up to you yes the savage has thicker parts so if you plan on bashing get the savage ss if you plan on racing or messing around on the street get the t-maxx
Both are good cars the t-maxx gave my ss a run for its money

is the t-maxx faster than the savage 25? in a flat out drag race would the t-maxx beat the savage 25 even with the lower gears in the savage?

No he didnt beat me. I got the junmp off the line I am running 15 bell and a 52 spur. Had had it in his favor cause he had 2wd it makes you fast in a way. But it was a tie so if you want to be a basher then savage if it is only raod for you then get a t-maxx. That is how i feel

Welcome to the forums... You'll get all the help you need around here....
The TMaxx is not a .21 It has almost the equivelent to an .18
To convert a stock TMaxx to a .21 will cost you basically the price of another TMaxx. Done right, it can be a true threat to all MT's...

In your case, I would buy the Savage .25 Its got some nice new features (hopups) and alot more power than the .21 I think you will benefit the most from this truck... My 2 cents........

You could always buy the Savage SS kit. Build it up, put the electronics in it that you want, and get as big an engine as your wallet can provide. Other than that, go with the Savage .25.

As for the T-Maxx or the Savage as the fastest, the T-Maxx out of the box is faster (.21 or not). Have not seen the .25 Savage run, yet, but even then it would be close. The T-Maxx is geared better out of the box for speed. The Savage is geared for bashing.

Are you a racer or a basher?

And...Welcome to RCNT and a great new hobby.

thanks guys. 1 more thing. I'm going in with $500.00 the truck is $419.00 figure $440.00 with tax, what else should Ido with the other $60.00 or so to be off to a good start?

You will want/need:
1. Fuel filter. I recommend Dynamite (part no DYN2006 ).
2. A better air filter. Motor Saver air filters have been my mainstay air filter. Make sure you get one appropriate for the engine size. The 2.5 T-Maxx is a .15 engine. The Savages (any size) should work well with the .21 Motor Saver . If you get a Savage, HPI makes a Motor Saver clone; it is called their hi-performance air cleaner .
3. Some fuel.
4. A glo-ignitor.
5. Depending on which one you get, you might want to look into the starter system for that truck. The 2.5 comes with an EZ start. The new Savages come with a rotostart (but not all of them do). I prefer pullstarts myself, but there are some niceties to electric start systems.
6. A hump pack rechargeable battery pack is always a good investment.
7. Despite my early dislike for them, a temp gun/gauge is a good investment.
8. Finally, some protection for your investment...a failsafe or at the very least a throttle return spring are a must.

No, I am not pushing Stormer Hobbies products for any particular reason...just happened to be the one site that had the pieces parts I was trying to list for you.

No, this will not come in under $60. To get running, you will need the first four (1 thru 4) on the list. To better protect your engine and your investment, you will want to get the last two (7 and 8). Numbers 5 and 6 are nice to haves.

We could list quite a decent set of hop-ups to make things more fun, but this is a good start. I suggest using the search function of this forum to get a better idea of what you are getting into. There is a lot of good information to be found here.

Again, welcome to the site and the hobby.

Regarding # 1.

The new Savage 25 has a build in fuel filter in the tank.

But I'm no fuel filter expert (have a T-maxx but have now orderes a Savage25) so I don't know if the build in es enough.

Just wanted to mention it.

Regards

Despite the new tank having a filter stone built in, one can not be too safe when it comes to taking care of your engine. I always recommend a fuel filter even if there is one in the tank. Just my overprotective side....
