I've had 3 tanks of fuel thru this truck and it has been hell to keep it running. I putts around the yard in circles and if I let off the throttle, it dies, everytime. Then it fires back up and I do it all over again. Is it set to rich to stay running???

It sounds like your idle speed might be a bit low and yes, around the 4th tank you should begin to start leaning it out a bit. Only lean it in small incriments like 1/8 of a turn at a time until you get good performance.

turn up your idle on your carb not your radio..get your idle up.and start to lean it out (hsn) like ac said small turns at a time 1/8 turns run it for awile.keep doing this intill you have good power.and not to hot 250 to 280 is good..after that you can adjust your lsn for some punch..don't over do it.when you adjust your lsn do it in 1/16 turns at a time.the needle is very picky.....

Apart from turning the idle screw in a little just to keep it running, (which you may have to turn back out a little once tuned) You should remember this.

LSN (low speed needle) Turn in at 1/8 at a time to improve throttle response, once the response does not change then back it off a little.

HSN (high speed needle) turn in at 1/8 at a time to improve your overall running and top speed.

Always start with a full tank but dont start tuning until about half a tank when the mill is good and hot otherwise you tend to suffer from a savage dissorder called half tank leaning. When you have it sort of tuned and you notice that the engine revs seem to be a little high when you slow to a stop then turn the LSN out by an 1/8 of a turn.

If your not racing in a club and your just doing some general bashing like most of us then run the beast rich (too far out on HSN, too much fuel, lots of smoke) then your mill will still perform well but it will be getting more lube from the fuel to help keep cool. Invest in a temp monitor, they dont cost much and can help you make your mill last and run for longer.

Wow, can i waffle on or what. Sorry for getting carried away but i have been there and done that and was grateful for the help i recieved, mostly off this site. Good luck

First you should...

First you should run some more tanks through it.I ran about 4 through mine and it didn't seem to be doing any better than it did in break in.Then all the suddon it hit me like a ton of bricks.I slowly gave it full throttle and the thing poped a wheelie. Whoo-hoo :boxing: Anyways run some more tanks through it and you should be alright. Then you can start messing with the settings!
