if you are new to nitro then YES. if the car idle sounds any different in ANY way, or the car is having trouble gettting to top speed, dies while accelerating, or wont stay in idle at any point while you're using it, (unless it hits like a wall or does something unordinary) and if it does the same problem like 3 times in a row, take it immediately to someone who can tune it. if its not tuned properly it will really hurt the engine. and that is a reallly annoying and expensive thing to happen to you.
 
watch as many how to vids on youtube. maintenance is key and make sure u know exactly what each part is suppose to look like vs. what its not suppose to look like. my slipper poop itself a week or so ago, tightened it up as i thought it just went loose. didnt realise the pads went bye bye. now looks like I'm putting a new primary clutch assembly in my trans...
