Hey Guys,

I'm a car enthusiasts that's recently joined the nitro RC world.

I have a 1:10 scale Seben-Racing Nitro RC with a 1966 Ford Mustang Shell

Now I actually bought this little beast in 2011 broke in the engine and then never touched it again till today.

So after many failed attempts at getting it started, it eventually started! YAY!!

but then the servos went haywire and now I got no idea what to do lolz

Would anyone be kind enough to point me into the right direction?

Cheers,
Benjamin

Hey mate, welcome to the forum. Could you please elaborate on what you mean by "haywire"... A little more specific.

My first suggestion would be install fresh batteries into both transmitter and receiver. I would be surprised if this didn't fix it.

I am assuming you mean you were running for a bit then it started to get a mind of it's own?

It's a nice rig you got by the way.

Cheers

It was as if there was some sort of interference. The car wasn't running but was switched on so the steering was going left and right sporadically while the throttle went fully opened or closed.

I'll recharge the batteries and try again tomorrow.

Thanks =]

I tried a set of freshly charged batteries and still nothing =(

does your car transmitter still use Crystal frequencies?

If it doesn't, i would re 'sync' the transmitter to the receiver...

I'm assuming I just press the sync button on the remote.

one thing to mention though when I used to turn on the car's receiver it would turn on the brakes and then back to the neutral position. Now nothing happens.

Have you read the directions?

the instructions?

yes I have,
I'd like to mention again that it has worked perfectly fine previously when I broke in the engine. Throttle, brake and steering and adjustments all worked fine till a couple days ago.

The car was responding normally moments before it went 'haywire'

Then you would know what kind of radio it has and whether or not it can be bound to the reciever. The instructions should have a few pointers in them for getting a handle on this problem.

All I know is that it's a 2.4GHz sender and receiver with integrated failsafe.

It does mention being able to change frequencies without changing crystals but doesn't specify how.

I'm currently checking online to see if there is a separate set of instructions for the remote.

has the failsafe got a button. you may have accidentally told the faiilsafe that its to move the servo to neutral if the connection is lost. you will have to apply the brake to where you would like it on a fail using the radio and then pressing the failsafe button to store that setting in memory. thats how mine works. my failsafe wasn't inbuilt but i bought one and added it in.
i have a hpi rs4 evo+ basically it is that car with a different engine and radio gear its just hpi.
as for the twitchy servos. could there be a frayed wire thats earthing on the engine or chassis. my servos always twitched whenever i touched something metal off the engine heatsink. i never really understood why it just acts strange that way. when left alone sometimes you can't see the servos twitchin but ya can hear them makin tiny tiscchkeshishhsstweishk noises. until you use the radio to take over. check for wires. check for metal touchin the heatsink. 2 things to look out for on those cars are your engine screws they love vibrating themselves loose and loosining the engine block to then strip the spur gear. it wont happen to you the first time or the second time but it will happen without threadlock. buy threadlock and apply to one side of the threads and fasten the engine down. this will save you a huge headache later on. the exhaust mainifold also likes to shake its screws loose from the engine block so do the same to them other than that theres nothing else to look out for.

cut a hole in that window and another (or make a vented window) at the rear air needs to get at the heatsink if your to keep it cool.
i used a metalworking compass basically it looks like a drawing compass but both ends are pins pierce a hole and set your radius i set it for a 16mm radius for a 32mm dia hole you graze around and around and on and on until it cuts somewhere the do the same from the inside and then peel out it will tear cleanly along the circle. or you could try making a scoop. see the other threads on how to do this.:)

ok good news, the RC works again.

I don't know why seben racing doesn't have more detailed instructions regarding the failsafe and syncing. There was a connector which shorted two points. after a few tries I managed to get it to sync and my remote works again.

but still have two problems.
I can't work out how to re program the failsafe. At the moment it doesn't seem like the failsafe is doing anything at all. If the power goes out on the remote then the car just continues whatver it was doing last....

other problem is that it stalls when i hit the brakes but I assume I just need to adjust the carby or the clutch

*edit*
tuned the carby again, everything working well except the failsafe now

so it was an electrical earthing. say that solved your twiching problem too.

heres what i think. i think that sync button is the program button for the failsafe.
apply the brake on your controller till its where you'd like it at on your car. then. when your happy hold it at that and hit the synch button. now let everything go.
turn off the controller and see if it doesn't go to the aformentioned braking point.
there has to be a button somewhere and my money is on that synch button on your controller.

yes there is a sync button on my controller.

I think i tried doing that but I will try again.

The way to sync with my car is i have to use an attachment to short 2 pins on the receiver turn on power and the failsafe flashes. Hold sync on transmitter and then turn on the receiver.
