Hello, I got a Tmaxx 3.3. I was running too lean before the replacement and damaged my connecting rod and piston. I replaced the piston and sleeve and connecting rod. I put the engine back together and try the ez-start and the engine doesn't budge.

I can hand crank the flywheel by hand and once it reaches the top it gets a bit harder to turn. I took out the glow plug and its still just as hard to turn. I'm new to nitro world :) any suggestions?

Welcome to RCNT Pstick...Ok what you are feeling there is the mechanical pinch of the sleeve. Since you have a new piston and sleeve you must re-do the whole break-in process again. Letting you know just in case. If the ez-start will not crank it over the best thing I can offer would to be put in a couple drops of after run oil to lube the upper piston and heat the engine up with a heat gun or hair dryer to loosen up the sleeve a little bit. Now when doing the break in always remember to put your piston down to the very bottom when you shut it off before it can cool. If you do not it can ruin the engine. You can also use a seperate glow plug ignitor and loosen the glow plug a tiny bit to release a bit more pressure. Also I know this is a given but make sure your Ez-Start battery has a fresh charge!

Also maybe the backing plate is on too tight? I know when I sealed my backing plate it was very easy to over tighten the screws and I could feel the drag on the bearings, so I had to loosen it and try to get the right tightness... Its locktighted so i hope it doesn't loosen up lol.

There's something out of whack with your engine then. The back plate has to be tight. I'm willing to bet that there's a shim in the wrong place on your crankshaft.

cheers guys. there was a washer in the backplate that was misshaped, I replaced it with a spare and the engine was much easier to turn. after that problem I discovered one of the gears on the EZ-Start was chipped so it was getting jammed as well.

Just ran my first tank and everything is going good.
