Alot of guys here have ran the engine, they will answer just give them time.

Will do. Just getting excited obout the motor i guess.
I've had 3 3.3 and everyone of them have either split
The rod in half or broke the piston. Each time they
broke they have only one or less gal. Ran threw them.

follow break in instructions and you will be more then pleased. its a awesome motor for the maxx. mite wana invest in metal cv's on all 4 corners

the run in instructions tell u (our engines require a runnig-in of about 10-20 minutes using moderate rpm.) then what ?? should i brake this motor in like i did the traxxas 3.3??? also do i need to seal the carb and the back plate... what about the bearings do i need to upgrade then also??

...And make sure you don't run it lean like those 3.3s.
If it's cold outside you need to wrap the head with something. You want it to run rich and warm, 180-220 degrees during break-in. Read the instructions and don't make any large needle adjustments. If it's running great then suddenly starts acting up it's probably not your tune, but a glow plug or exhaust problem etc.
These engines take about 1 full gallon before they really come to life, so go easy on the break in.

no instruction sheet came with the motor. but the web site down4?????? sorry forgot ur name lol sent me will help alot thanks wow the motor dont come to life untill after a gallon, sweet because the 3 3.3 motors i have i only got about a gallon in each then the rod split in half.. ya I'm new to this so the first motor was my bad but the last to i babied and they still broke.. also i read in fourms that u have to seal the motor and replace the front bearing before break in but those were from like 2000 to 2007 is this still true??
thanks for all the help

I'm running my second picco .26. For startup the factory settings are way to rich. way way to rich! its gonna hydrolock over and over. I am unable to recomend a specific needle setting however. I struggled big time on my first one. I broke the stock pull start, part because the string is a bit to short and because it kept hydrolocking.

here is how I started and began break in of my second picco. 2.5 turns out on the high side, and 4 out on the low side. My initial start up went very well although a bit lean. So be prepared to make adjustments. For me it was easier to start my engine knowing it was lean and prepared to turn it rich after the first startup. hydrolock can be very frustraiting on a new engine. my methods are debateable I know, but I've had a lot less frusrations by doing it this way.

Instead of doing that^^^, turn the lsn in a little bit at a time if it floods. Mine was also too rich , but I gradually turned the lsn in a little at a time until it idled nicely.
Turning the hsn in will have no effect on startup, so save that for when it's running, and it should be somewhere around "flush".

I will keep all that in mind thanks. Still waiting for my motor mount . And my crapy 3.3 to blow wont be long i just finished one gallon in it. Lol thanks for all the help and i will let u all no how the picco does this weekend..

one more thing i use sidewinder fuel 20% with 10% oil will the 10% oil b enough for this motor? Andagain thanks for the help

That will be awesome fuel for that engine. It'll run alot better than it would with 16% oil, like traxxas fuel. Just make sure you don't lean it out.
