Well guys I have to say I love my Revo. Got it on craigslist for 200 with a full break in on the motor and about 7 tanks total run on it!!!

So now in the last two weeks I have done these mods
Trinity pipe
Motorsaver filter
60W oil and stiffer springs
FOC
and a digital temp gauge

I really love it and today after the motorsaver mod I really think the Revo is much much faster, it was about 65 degrees out cooler than most but it was def pulling wheelies alot easier. Thing is it shifts into second, crazy fast. I didnt change the setting unless it is now just pulling through the gear faster but it hits second gear in about .5 sec of full throttle when before it was 1.5 sec.

I am getting a wing because I have flipped it about 5 times, is the Traxxas carbon wing really carbon? will it shatter when flipped on? A plastic one would just wear down over time. I want carbon but is it worth it duribility wise?

Lastly I hear great things about the sway bar kit....any drawbacks? loss of suspension travel etc?

Thanks

sounds lke you're off to a great start. Welcome to rcnt (if you're a new member, never seen you here before)

yeah new member.

I want to order new wheels maybe +1/2 prolines with the crime (something tires)
and a pull start

well I browsed and read for about 1 week before I posted. I have to mod everything I own, my house, my cars, my rc cars. haha so this place is good for me, bad for my wallet.

The motor saver is probably flowing better therefore leaning the mixture so you may need to adjust the shift point to shift a little later.Check the manual or the Traxxas sight for the directions for the ajustment..If you still have trouble call Rolex (just kidding)lets us know.

No the wing is plastic but works great as a wheelie bar, and yes the sway bars limit suspension articulation.Great for handling as they reduce body roll but will limit slow speed off road capability. For on road running or a prepared dirt track the bars are great. For general bashing its give or take.

For adjusting the shift point, look on top of the tranny, there will be a rubber plug. Open it and roll the rig forward slowly, you'll see a slot in the gear, inside that slot is a hex screw. Turning it clockwise will set the shift point later. That is on the 3.3 tranny, not sure if yours is a 3.3 or a 2.5.

oh sorry not to clarify, I read the manual front to back before I started it up. so i know how to adjust the shift point, didnt have time to do it yesterday was just enjoying for 30 min. I will tweak it.

I always go back to factory settings after a engine mod so it wasn't running lean it was around 240 temp and a little rich on lsn setting. but the wheelies where great.

So just to clarify the traxxas carbon wing really isnt carbon, just carbon look plastic?

I think the sways will be next, no major bashing just dirt, pavement and fine gravel, not rock climbing for me, and the steering radius sucks so I am going to open it up a bit tonite by shaving down the bump stops.

lastly for wheels, there are these cool looking Axial bead locks, will they really hinder performance over the proline plastics? I heard the 40 series tires are too wide, I want a cool wheel but not at the sacrifice of noticable performance loss.

and can I put a crimefighter/stopper tire on this?

the traxxas wing you refer to is black plastic with an EXO carbon coating... the first time it bends, the carbon coating will crack ... its more for look than anything... i have the same wing and it has taken quite the beating and its only starting to peel now...

so you would recommend it then? I just dont want it to look like crap after the first flip...which would be about 5 min after its installed

I would suggest since you made the switch over to the motor saver and the trinity pipe set the carb back to stock settings and re-tune. With the addition of the pipe and Filter you have changed the overall tune of the engine and should re-tune to the current set-up. That should fix your shift issue. If it doesn't then worry about adjusting shift points.

I already returned the setting back to stock and retuned. It is much much faster.

What I am assuming is that the extra power just causes it to shift quicker becuase it pulls through the gears quicker

OK I get what you are saying but..... it your truck traveling at about the same speed as before WHEN it shifts? If so you just took at least a second off your acceleration time, which is a drastic increase. Kudos:D

If you re-tuned it, you might have to adjust the shift point. Since the rig shifts into second when it hits a certain RPM, if you got the motor tuned to produce more power that would definitely cause it to shift sooner. Perhaps the previous owner adjusted it to shift sooner instead of tuning it better.

who knows, I will tune it tomorrow on my day off, hopefully install some new parts

Sounds like your onto a great start with your Revo. If you drive it on the pavement much try the Vantage wheel and tire combo. On smooth blacktop my revo will power slide into a 180 a full speed and not flip or roll. They are not all that great in the dirt, not enough traction. The Crime Fighters are great in the dirt!

well i got my traxxas carbon wing today, 17mm hubs and crime fighters with proline solid yellow wheels.

Much better grip on dirt and pavement, wheelie machine! I like doing a rolling start 5-10mph and then mash it and pull a wheelie through second.

Adjusting the shift point helps alot and a lot more top speed, the tires are ballooning now at top speed
