well I got the differential all back together and took it out to run..It fired right up and took it out to the back yard,,let it warm up a bit then started to get on it ,,was doing a few laps around the back yard then all of a sudden when I went to goto WOT it bogged down like I was holding the breaks while giving it gas,,,so I shut it off and was reading and figured It must be overheating?? but when it did that I checked the temp and showed 270..well anyways I set the hsn a tad richer and took it back out for a run..

Well now its running great and almost wanting to pull a tiny wheelie and temp was around 260 so I'm thinkin I got it tuned in good so lets have some fun..Well I was having a blast with it then was almost out of gas so I shut it off...Go fill it up,,fire it back up,,put the body on it,,now it acts like its runnin too rich and my temp guage is showing it running like 280 to 290 ha ha ,,so I figured I would play it safe and just turn the hsn a bit richer to get the temps down to 260 again but now it dont want to shift and has none of the power it had on my earlier tank??

is this normal to have such a change in performance/tuning from one tank to another or do you think I have an air leak or something messin with me??Or maybe my glow plug(heavy duty traxxas plug)??

It sounds like an airleak for sure. Also temps will be very different with the body on and off due to how airflow is directed across the engine

thanks jet,,

thats was I was kinda thinkin from all the reading i have done,,man I'm getting tired of working on it more than I run it!! Almost ready to throw this motor away and buy an OS .18 I keep reading about..

Do I have to take the motor out to check for an air leak?If I remember right I read you have to,,is there an easier way?

Well I took the motor out and did the soapy water while I blow in it test,,,its leaking real bad around the front bearing...I got everything off but a little cone looking deal in front of the bearing,,does that hold the bearing iin?

That's the collet for the flywheel, it should be split so you can take it off. Usual places for an airleak are around the backplate and the carb base. You can seal them with a high temp RTV. The fuel tank is also common, that is what you should take off and blow into. Also check you exhaust gasket, manifold (the stock revo header is prone to cracking) and the coupler. Hole in the fuel line is also an source.

when I take the collet off,,it dont leak there,,but when I put it back on,,I got all kinds of bubbles comming from it....
