Alright, I'm getting ready to buy a new engine for the Revo...But I'm stuck between 2 engines right now and dont know which I want for sure.
My 2 choices are at different ends of the spectrum on engines thats for sure.
I'm looking at either an OS.18TZ-TX or the PICCO .26 Max.
I've been running the OS.18tm and I loved it but I just want to try something different. I'm aware of all the install details on both engines and all of that isnt a factor to me.
Between the 2 which would you guys pick? The Revo they are going in is going to be a basher for the most part, now I'm not saying that it will never be on the track because it might get turned into a race truck somewhere down the line but for the most part I only see it being a basher for a good while........
What ya think people?????

By the time you pay for the mtors and a pipe, you could get the RB 323 kit and be done with it. Comes with motor mount adapter, motor, and pipe. Rob's R/C hobbies, 714-372-3777, has the kit for 219.00.

I also thinking about upgrading the mill on my Revo. Is there a big difference between the RB 323 and the OS. 18 ?

Well, SMAXX, what do you think the difference will be between a .23 (RB 323) and an .18? The RB claims to make 3 HP. I don;t know what the O.S. claims to make, but I guarantee you it is not 3 hp.

I didn't know that the 323 was a .23 lol.

Yep, it is. And it makes gobs of power. If you are looking for power at a good price, I recommend the RB. It was also easy to break in and tune, plus you can use the Sleazy Start with it if you want.

Really!?! Hmmmm, being able to use the ez start system is a plus while I wait to save some pennies for the starterbox.

Just remember that the Sirio 23 is an awesome upgrade and the power out of that was unreal. I had my old maxx on its lid during break in!!! Do you really need 3 horses? I think its an overkill in my opinion.

Diver, it is a SWEET install. And it turns over with the EZ Start almost as easy as the TRX. All simple bolt in, no cutting, no ten trips to the LHS. It all just bolts up in 45 minutes (for me).

Jon, if the Sirio .23 is SOOOOO powerful, what is wrong with the RB?

I ended up going with a new OS.18TZ-TX...I really like OS engines and I've had good luck with them in the past so thats why I went with another one.
It didnt take me very long to instal it really, I bet I didnt spend much over 45mins doing it and that was with cutting the crankshaft down and fitting up a T-Maxx throttle linkage. I'm gonna break it in today or tomorrow if I have time.
The OS.18TZ has been dyno'd at 2.28 HP...OS list it at 1.8HP but that was at like 25,000 RPM. One of the RC magazines dyno'd it at 2.28HP and 35,000 rpm, and as far as I know it's the only stock small block to break the 2HP barrier...With the TZ being a turbo style engine you get a good power boost over the regular .18tm, you gain alot more RPM's with it and more HP.

I have the os tm and i have the rb. For bashing i would say go with the RB. The power is insane. Wheelies at mid thottle on demand. I can keep up with touring cars. Now for racing i would say go with the os tZ. I wouldnt waste time with the os .18TM.

Go with the OS. Very reliable and easier to tune. They just make a great carb

Never said there was. but for the average racer 3 horses is a lot even for bashers. Now I am not saying that it won't be fun just a lot of power that even a little gas can flip you on the lid. That was a little after 4 tanks. It wants to scream. Imagine if I had the aluminum clutch shoes... It would be ridiculous!

I have to agree with you, Jon. My RB is sometimes too powerful; I have never run away from the fact that if I was seriously racing the Revo, I would take the RB out. I have posted this several times over onthis forum. I still love the gobs of torque, though. I like the convenience of the RB kit, though.

Looks like Diver got himself a Revo that he is itching to mod up already. I want to see what ideas he comes up with!

I was already getting itchy while waiting for it to arrive at my door! Man, there's really not too much to do with the REVO other than engine and suspension height/response. ALready started taking measurements for the push rods. Figure that if they were about a 1/2 inch shorter, all around, I can get some serious lowering but noone makes those things that short. Off to the lathe I may have to go and turn down some stainless steel rods I have laying around the shop.

Then the suspension travel is already set at 90mm (stock) but do they make them with a lower travel rate? hmmmmmm .... definitely gonna have to stick some really hard springs in there ...

Basically, I want to see how low I can make it for the road but still have enough articulation and rebound to keep it on the track. Shoot, may just have to keep 2 different settings to swap in and out depending on the track. DAMNIT, you guys really got me thinking!

Diver, that is why they give you the two different rocker arms to play with. You can lower it and use a stiff spring with the stock rocker, or use a softer spring and the optional rocker, or keep trying different combos!

I have a Revo that I just put the picco 26 on ! its crazy power for sure. I was also looking at the os 18 but I dont like engines that use a spring to hold the muffler on. every time some one at the track with spring exhaust lands the big jump wrong they pop off! I have no regrets with the picco. When its tuned just right my revo will carry the front end about 20 feet when it hits 2nd gear!!! bet an .18 can't do that

I dun know that OS .18 is a bad motha! Diver I save you a body from the last batch
