I have a savage with a wasp .28 in it...the wasp has been nothing but trouble for my maybee its just my luck but if i can't get a couple hours of run time with out something going wrong with it i want to look into a new engine...
Any suggestions on a very powerful engine that isnt a pain to tune or so tempermental

Take a look at the Picco .28, I have one and its been great to me, tons of torque. I've also had 2 Wasp .28s and they were good to me too so you never know haha.

easiest to tune engine out there would most likely be an axial .28 or .32. it's not the fastest mill out there but it gets the job done and is still pretty quick.

I run the OS .30 and the tune has seen a 16th here and there as the weather changed. Its got a few gallons through it and it still has incredible power.

I put a STS D30M A.I. in mine. very reasonable priced and this thing flies. Very easy to tune also.........

I have a sts 28 that i have had for over a year and run about 4 gallons throught it, still has lots of power (seemed to get faster as time went on) never had a problem.

it takes about 2 gallons to actually "wake up" the engines from STS. After break in is complete, people think they are maxed out in the power category... the next gallon almost always proves them wrong.

How is yours started? Roto, pull, bump? I get complaints from people that the engine will stop their starter box motors lol.

Modded STS .30DM has more power curve and snap than anything remotely close to it, other than a Picco.28.

more to the power curve than other engines. Could also mean smoother than most engine power bands.

A modded .30 can't be touched by many other engines out there... and when paired with a 150cc tank, it averages a good 10 minutes per pit at the track.

I really think that sts .30 is going to be beat by their new .28 though, although its designed to be a race engine and not just a savage flipper :D

If anyone knows how doggy the first generation savy was, the .30, like a few other bigger engines, make em feel like a whole new truck

Explain yourself please. Define what you mean when you say "more to the power curve". More what? You also said "could" as in maybe or maybe not or are you guessing?

i do not know for sure what he is referring to, so I'm not going to say "hey, this is what he is talking about".

The powerband for the .30 is relatively smooth, lots of engines this sized have a twitchy powerband. Not only is it smooth, it is a relatively STRONG powerband too... meaning it gets up to speed pretty quickly.

What do you mean by "more power curve"?

It comes on from idle to WOT smoother, a good example is a comparision between the STS and Axial .32 (both which I have) the Ax.32 is brutal on the bottom but starts to fall sharply after 28,000 rpm, the modded STS is just as snappy on the bottom end but it builds up better and holds all the way to WOT.

How do you know that the power falls off right at 28,000 rpm and not sooner or later? What tool did you use to measure the rpm when the power dropped off?

Like I said, I have a modifies STS D30M in my Savage X and this is one awsome engine. It accelerates very smooth. At any point on the throttle, you can accelerate and the truck just takes off like a rocket. Very controllable. No hesitation, it's very snappy on the throttle. The power seems unlimited as the truck just continues to accelerate at full throttle. I've been up against a axial .32 and a OS 30 and this thing smoked them. Maybe it had something to do with the drivers or their set up but I was sure surprised at how the other trucks seemed to be out powered. This is one of the best motors I have had, hands down.

I am a huge fan of STS... but in my opinion, that .30 is too much power. That thing will not let my truggy hook up on the track lol.
