I was able to sit down and watch a couple videos on this beast last night...sheesh! That thing is sick.

Even at my toughest terrain locations, I think this thing would just drive over everything. I would be totally interested in a "scaler" version of it. Something like a SCX6. I've always wanted an SCX6 but the price tag is a no go. Under 1k for a toy truck is easier to swallow.

Needed some time away from RC to focus on a few other hobbies. I check on the site from time to time, but haven't had much to share or contribute. Gonna try to crawl tomorrow after taking the summer off.

Can't blame you for taking the summer off, to freakin' hot to enjoy it.

Added to the fleet and assessment is underway. The buggy wheels 17mm nut design is puzzling in that none of the current SCX-6 beadlock wheels are going to work.

Can't wait to hear what you think. It is strange the wheel nuts aren't the same size as the SCX6.

We drilled out a set of beadlocks to work, but it's not optimal. There are a lot of other neat things about the Vertex, and at roughly 5500 grams, this could easily be turned into a crawling beast. Also, we're thinking about using that transmission in our SCX-6 Honcho. Just need to update our skidplate model to work with that transmission and then sort out the driveshafts. They did a good job on the overall layout, and I think the aftermarket world will sort out the wheel mounting issue.

I'm waiting to see what body options will be available, something a little more scale sized would be cool. I know you guys are going to do this one up right. :thumbs-up:

I will be picking up a Vertex or the Yikong YK4061 in the next few weeks. There is so much positive about the Vertex right now, but nobody paying much attention to the Yikong just because its a Chinese company. As far as Yikong, they make several of the Redcat cars, and some of FMS' best cars, as well as other brands. Don't dismiss Yikong just because they are from China, as China makes some of the worlds best tech. The YK4061/Vertex WAS co designed by Redcat, not just a rebrand or copy, it is Redcats rig. The only difference between the two is the body as far as I have heard/read. Yikong agreed to not distribute in the US, but available to us via Ali or Bangood. Really boils down to which body you like best. All of the upgrades available for the Vertex will no doubt fit the YK4061. I just need to decide which body I like better soon, as I want this by Thanksgiving weekend, and getting the Yikong will take a while to get here.

There are only a few Chinese companies making top RC's, and this includes most all our favorite brands rigs. When it is said that a certain brand just copied the Chinese brand, keep in mind that that company was hired by them to make it to their specs....not just a copy.

I prefer the Yikong body. Maybe you could pick up the body separate later, and get the Redcat now, so you will have it for the holiday weekend.

For those of us in the U.S. shipping on the Yikong from AliExpress is $300.+ dollars. 😱

Not finding the body only anywhere, not even on Yikong's website...unless I am totally missing it. Funny thing with Ali is that the pricing on just about everything is all over the place, as well as shipping charges. I saw one listing on there for the 4061 at $712 with free shipping, but delivery was estimated for Nov 24th.
We are going to my daughter and son in laws for Thanksgiving in St George Utah, rock crawling heaven down there! Son in law already has a Vertex, and his LHS has a few in stock. I might just call the shop and buy one, pick it up at Thanksgiving, and then just call it a "souvenir" from our trip, my bride certainly wont get mad at me for buying a "souvenir" right???? ;)
