I have around 520 dollars...I'm looking for a fast, durable kit. one of my choices is the hpi rs4 ss. but i want some different opinons too, Can you guys give me some kit names and say the advantages? I have some more money to spend now :p Thx

Hay smurf. If you buy the SS kit, you will still need to buy the radio, glow plug igniter, fuel and batteries, so that amount will allow you to get the car, a descent radio and all the other stuff. Its not how expensive the car is, its how you build it.

Well I will be running at a parking lot mostly...I was wondering if any other cars would be good...I'm still looking...Yeahhhh,..

I'd get a ntc3.
$255-kit (ultimatehobbies.com)
$150 - good race engine
then you still have $115 for misc. radio gear

Ntc3 owns all

I dont know about owns all, but it is a pretty good car. Its the most popular by far now a days.

Check out the new OFNA LD3, the hot bodies new 1/10, Yokomo GT4, Trinity Reflex NT. The mugens and the serpents are pretty expensive, but really good cars.

All the above are good choices. If you are only bashing in a parking-lot you may want to look at the RS4 or NTC-3 RTR.
You will come in way under budget and have some extra cash for hop-ups.

I enjoy building kits but they cost a lot more.

I might get a ntc3, can anyone help me find a good engine? Please!

That would be me, mjime714, and mquejr. Smurfola you remember me right? I have the RS4 type SS you were looking at by my pickup. I would try and go for the NTC3. You could get it at Ultimate Hobbies for 254.99. Elite sells it for 269.00. But if you can manage to meet Mjime and I at Elite, we could probably talk to Ian about getting the price lower. Maybe we could come up with a whole package (radio, glow starter, and all).

As for an engine, you're going to need a pullstart motor. Since you're not going to buy a starter box (not yet at least), you could get the Yokomo .18 motor. That's a good motor to start off with, and you'll still be able to spank those guys with the HPI RTR RS4's. I just can't remember if it has an SG Shaft or standard. I think you need an SG shaft for the TC3. Remember if you go for the NTC3 and the Yokomo .18. You have to get the kit with the side exhaust.

.18 ain't legal though...i think it's better to get legal race equipment

just get a good .12 roar legal race engine

But if Smurfola is running on parking lots, especially with us at the rose bowl, the officials here are only looking for Galaxy and Bruin players

For the money, I can't recommend the RTR NTC3 enough. For $400 you are ready to go. I say $400 because the car goes for $299 at most hobby shops and the extra $100 for batteries, gas, glow igniter, and a couple extra glow plugs... which you will need after breaking it in.

The engine IMHO, has plenty of power with a CVEC pipe on it. The only mods I have done to my RTR NTC3 is threaded shocks, CVEC pipe, 2 speed with stock NTC3 grears and just yesterday I took 5th place running Gas Sedan at my local track. I can't rave enough about the handling of this car in it's stock setup either.

Ultimately everyone has their favorites... this one is mine.

I agree with Scotto, I am running the almost the same setup as him, just without the CVEC pipe. The NTC3 RTR is bad to the bone, the stock mill has enough power for you to start with, and you can always upgrade! just make sure to get the 2 speed, and then change the gears cuz then you can blast off the line and have huge top end, as i do. Extremly reliable, and strong too. I have only broke a diff cover and a gass tank, that was because I drifted full speed into a curb, but guess what, most hobby shops stock AE items. I had it up and running within 2 hours.

NTC3 ALL THE WAY BABY!!!!!

Deffinetly go shaft driven if you will be parking lot bashing.

RS4 3ss is a great choice, its what i run!I've never had a problem and theres a ton of factory backing!

tc3 rtr I got mine the other day and its an awsome car, no one can touch this car out of the box!

fantom FR12 is a great one ... i love fantoms. thinking about taking the .15 out of my supernitro and putting in an 18

for parking lot bashing why not get a super nitro or supernitro rally ? they are good for taht stuff, big wheelbase, they take bumps over pebbles and stuff very well, and they look cooler because they are big. and its FAAAAAAAAST with new motor and 2 speed. mine hits about 60-65 with the fantom 15 and 2 speed
