Every time I flip my maxx (I am still working on a learner's permit when it comes to this thing) the glow plug wire will rub in half from contacting the ground. Does anybody know a solution to this, besides a roll cage or bar, like a heavy duty wire or casing for it?

I've never had a maxx so this is a shot in the dark, but could you disconnect it after its started? Or will that be a pain in the butt?

Screw the glow wire and get a Igniter,it's a hell of a lot easier, and cheaper in the long run,or you could just put zipties on top of the head to protect it but they won't last long.

can you run it through one set of fins?
I'd get the glow ignitor.....makes your starter battery last longer too....

Definitly go for the glow ignitor!!! The wire is a pain in the ass. Also takes power from the battery to light it up... the ignitor is the way to go!

you can get a used ignitor for about $10 that's rechargable,so go for that considering the wires are around $2 a piece or atleast mine was.

If I didn't use the wire, I would just fold it up, zip tie it, and all I would have to do is start it like usual, but just use a glow ignitor on the glow plug and take it off once it's started?

yep...you got it.....
Jared I'm not goin to the track this weekend....but I'll be there monday/wed/sat next week for sure....

I believe the glow plug wire disconnects near the plug... You just stick the ignitor on the plug, press the botton on the starter, when it starts, take off the ignitor! Simple!

You could also put a few layers of heatshrink tubing on the wire so it doesn't eat through . Keeping the wire means one less thing to cary around.

I had the same problem, and I have no intention of getting rid of the blue wire. This zip tie trick works pretty well for me.

Those are some puny zip ties!!! I personally hate the blue wire, but thats just me. Caused me too many headaches to keep it.

What I did was wrap the glow plug wire with a piece of heavy duty shrink tubing. The same stuff that you use to protect your solder joints when splicing wires together. That and raise your body a bit. That way you give your head a bit of protection. Allows your lid to do what it was made for. I have rolled mine many times and not a problem. The shrink tubing makes a big difference. Also you may want to run the wire through one of the fins.

You may want to invest in a New Era three point roll cage that made a big difference as well. The body didn't crush as much. ... just my :2cents: Hope this helps. Good luck my friend.

Yeah I am the same way... I know I am going to catch alot of hell for admitting this.... but I have no intention of loosing the blue wire either. I actually chose the Maxx because of the EZ start and reverse.... that and its rep as a great all around truck. I don't plan on ever really racing the Maxx other than just to have fun. So the EZ start and Reverse will stay..... for now.

Alright guys I am ready for the bashing..... :boxing: LOL

well Ill add to this list, I have never had a problem with my ez-start except when I put the battery in wrong and it fired the glow plug heating side. I like the ez start and dont mind the blue wire, I heat shrinked it and its fine, I've fliped hard enough to break the HSN off the carb and slid on the roof and all kinda stuff and still have the same old blue wire. My body is also raised in the back a tag, only about 1 cm. sticks out of the body.

Heres a pic of how my body sits, and a glow plug wire I have shrink wrapped. hope it helps.

I had shrink wrap on mine, and it definately helped. I finally went with a glow ignitor after the EZ start would no longer light the plug.
Plaidfish also has a good suggestion with running it between the fins. That keeps it completely out of harm's way.

I also used shink tubing after the first time it got cut and had no other problems.

Has any had this type of problem with the antena ? I have a full roll cage and was runing it on the street with out the body on and fliped it cutting through the antena and wire  . Can you tuck the antena under the body or will you get radio interferance ?
