How far can I move the 3rd gear adjustment screw out for an earlier shift? It does not shift into 3rd gear from the factory. Is this normal? I do not want the srew to fall out like it did on my 2 speed. It looks like there are a ton of threads left. This tranny came from a savage xl.

My xl s 3 speed shifted fine and actually made it shift later. Is ur slipper tight? It will depend on ur gearing also.

It will also depend on proper engine tuning.
If the 3 speed is anything like the kit version I put in my Savage, only one adjustment is accessible from the outside, under the rubber cap. The other needs a trans tear out to adjust.
