wondering if its just me.... any of you have the butterflys launching your savage off jumps at first? i got my savage broke in today finaly. and started looking what i could jump off and saw a grass birm on the edge of the parking lot the fith jump i landed on my right front tire and did a cartwheel / barrel roll from the grass to the pavement for what seemed like forever i think i would have some gold now if i had any coal between my but cheeks :)
but now its got its first battle wounds so hopfully ill start to relax a little more

just wondering if anyone else has felt this or if I'm the only tightwad that see`s $700 tumbeling around

I do when I land wrong with any of my MT's , Buggies or ST's Makes you cringe but nirmally the battle wounds aren't that bad. Do you have the New 28 savage or the 25 or even the 21?

I was like that at first too. Then after I saw it flying 15 feet in the air for the first time I got over it lol. I got mine in the winter and we had a ton of snow that year.I made a jusp out f this huge plow pile and just launched off of it. I was easily getting 12-15 foot of air and the Savage just smiled and kept going back for more!! You have no reason to fear though. I have yet to break a stock suspension part on this thing and I've been bashing it since it's release and I'm still using the original suspension that came with the truck.

i have the .25 ...and I'm waiting on your review of the .25 mod i might be getting mine done as well ....jon2 have you ran a stock star .25 for comparison?

when i had just broke my engine in i was doing jumps in the park with it and i landed on 1 of the back wheels and it cartwheeled towards a river going throw the park but it stoped in time but then one of the arm things that stop the back wheels from turning and i had butterflys in my stomach when i went to see it because i was my first r/c i thought i had done somthing really bad to it but when i got close to it i could see it was nothing

just my buddies. We traded for a couple weeks. He had my old tmaxx. We compared. the S-25 was strong but it needed better clutch set up. ALuminum shoes IMO. Brakes sucked but I have the Werks Power clutch and dual disc brakes.

First off you would have a diamond, not gold, lol. I don't sweat it, I love to see what it can take, what I can dish out to it. If I break something it just gives me an excuse to make it better. Now if it were a T-maxx then maybe I would be worried... :hehe:

I think within the first week of getting my savage, I had already bent up my roll bar pretty good, enough to where it wasn't easy to bolt back on.

I bashed my savage as soon as the engine was broken in. And I bashed it HARD.

Really if your making diamonds on that kind of bashing. They need to take you to an official rcnt bash and you will have more money than Gates.

During my last bash session this past year (emphasis on last), I was jumping a 5' pile of gravel. Things were great until the last jump (again, emphasis on last). Landed on the lid, more specifically the head and busted the motor mounts off of the mill. Put a nice hole in the side of the block. For some reason, it didn't run too well after that. :)

Life kicked in big time and it wasn't until last month that I finally purchased another mill. Got a Picco .26. I'm pretty happy with it, just getting it "broke in" as opposed to broken. :)

Most people are careful at first, but that wears off soon enough. You get used to the reality that sooner or later you'll be replacing parts and will develop a new found freedom to jump anything in sight!

My problem was (and still is) checking what's under the jump and now, what's just after it. I just did the "Two Piece Mod" on my savage. It was really easy, just make a nice jump off of something and don't pay any attention to the curb right in front of you. I still haven't found all the screws yet. The front half (steering, front diff and the body) rolled down the road for quite a bit before stopping. I think my radio box cover is in the storm drain. I'm not going in there after it!

Yep was jumping my savage with a buddy at a bike park. it had rained before and there were a few puddles. I was being fairly careful, but i caught a landing on the back right wheel and sent the truck cartwheeling thru a 5 inch deep puddle. Got lots of steam shut her down and looked everything over. Was cringing pretty bad as visions of telling my wife i had to buy new radio gear for a new truck danced thru my head. Alas the radio was working. so back to bashing i went.

Have had my savage for a little over 8 months stock before i did the Aluminum upgrades to it and NOTHING is broken save a stripped HPI wheel.

Have torn up a few trucks previously tho. turned a heavily modded RS4MT into a twisted pile of scrap after battery came loose for some reason WOT. (ALWAYS USE A THROTTLE RETURN SPRING!! EVEN IF YOU HAVE A FAILSAFE!!) Hit a curb head WOT. nothing survived the impact.

now dont get me wrong...i know the savage is a beast and can take some real abuse
but this is (well was) my first new rc & first kit... and now that it has its first wounds i can get to seeing what see will do

I kept my buggy on the ground for the most part. Till my kid ran into a guardrail wide open with it. Starting to jump a bit with it now.
I have been scared to death to jump anything with my Savage. The new is wearing off now. Cartwheeled it a few times pretty bad. Thought something would have broke. https://www.rcnitrotalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27374 Fouth post down is a vid. Watch it and you will be jumping with the Savage. :devious:
