I need help choosing a good set of street tires for an event this weekend. I'll be taking my Savage 25 (basicly stock) to a truck show where they will have a small track layed out to play around on. I'm having a body painted to match my '72 Chevy Cheyenne :) which will be entered into the show. I thought it'd be fun to have both trucks sitting there. (1) full size 400hp truck and (1) 1/8 2.5hp truck :D

What would be the best wheel/tire combo to get? It has stock savage tires/wheels on it now. I tried a set of the BigJoe tires on a set of velocity 40's and I didnt like how it bogs down the low end. Will all 40's do this or is it just the width of the BigJoes? I mainly run on dirt/grass/gravel but might start competing in a LHS race every other weekend (which is on asphault)

Thanks for any opinions you can offer.

Also would like to have some wheels for the savage that match the old rally wheels? Here's a pic of what I'm running on the truck now

use the big joes and run a 14 tooth bell

going to be hard to find rallys looks like a nice truck!!!

oh the Joes will do pretty good on the street? I think I may just have a 14 here somewhere... I'll try that tomorrow!

here's a little better shot of the truck... I hope the savage body comes out looking just like it. Won't know till Friday :)

lol Ricer... I agree, it doesn't need it :) but there's nothing wrong with an additional 175hp at the flip of a switch no matter what you drive.

I have to agree with you Piston, more power is always better., but is it an original truck? If so won't the no2 hurt the value?

I restored it a year and a half ago, my original intent was to keep the body and interior stock, the drivetrain however... is not ;)

If I were going for strickly stock all over, there would be no bottle or even a need for it actually. It's definatly a handfull. Point it in the direction you want to go and HOPE the truck agree's LOL

Sounds fun, can't beat the bottle for the price, but for me a blower would be the way to go, more $$ but more constant fun!

Blowers are fun thats for sure, turbo's too. I built the engine to definatly hold its own without any power adders, but then the bug bit me and I just add to add something more lol. Horsepower is an addicting thing! ;)

Here's a pic during the buildup... Now if I can just figure out how to fit this in the savage?

lol wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiite now go get that dam c-clip on your evader! :)

These would be a good combo. I couldn't find a rim to match yours, but these are a simple rim with a descent on road tire. Both are found at tower, here is the rim and the tire

They also have tires mounted on rims, but not with those rims.

I use the bowtie 40 series on my savage for the track and it doesn't bog it down at all. They are a little smaller in diameter than the stock tires so there is a noticable decrease in top end, but it accelerates just as fast or faster than stock.
