Hey I just installed a new motor into my XTM X-C. For some reason when i go it goes backwards only. It doesn't go forward. I am wondering why is it doing this? Did i install the motor wrong or what? Because it only goes in reverse.

Another question is.
How do you guys get your solder to stay onto the motor because my solder keeps breaking off only he red does. And i re solder it alot of times and it just falls off.

Things that will make a motor run in reverse

pos and neg wires are crossed....most common
throttle dip switch on radio is reversed
retarded motor timing
esc is programed wrong
bad esc

My guess is that your not getting the solder hot enough.

I apply solder to the motor tab first, you need to get it hot enough to cover the whole tab with a thin layer of solder, not just put a blob on top of the tab....if it's hot enough it will flow nice and smooth...No blobs!

Next hold your gun or iron under the wire and push the solder thought the wire...your wire should be nice and solid, again no blob. Now your ready to solder the wire to the motor tab......This won't fall off.

Thanks for your reply. I am going to try to switch the postive and Negative because somebody eles told me that. The ESC is fine and it was working fine before with another modded motor i had in.

The Solder is made for pc repairs. I am going to re-solder it 2morrow. Yes my solder iron was hot enough. The problem could be my solder iron tip is all burnt soo its not giving a good solder like it should be i am guessing. But i will try a couple of things and tell you all how it went!

EDIT:
I changed the positive and the negative around and now it seems to be going forward and working rite. Now i just got to resolder it witch i am going to do 2morrow sense it is late.

You want to use a rosin core solder, and if you have an old sponge laying around and you get it damp you can use that to clean the tip of your soldering iron when it is hot, then just retin the tip of the iron with some fresh rosin core solder and you should be able to make a good conection....
