new to the forum here. i was looking at the traxxas t-maxx with a 2.5 and tires very similar to a monster truck. i need to know how reliable these things are. if its going to break in the first week, can anyone point me to a brand that is "built like a honda"?

thanks, ben

Welcome to RCNT!

The honest answer is "It depends..."

If you don't do anything with it that might be considered extreme, it might last the week. :D

Don't get me wrong, for starter trucks, the T-Maxx is a great MT...but it has a tendancy towards and a history for being a money pit.

If you want something strong out of the box, take a look at the HPI Savage trucks. They are built tough out of the box...but will get mixed reviews on their speed.

If you are a basher, the Savage will work. If you want to race, then think about the Revo by Traxxas. Both are trucks...the Savage is a true MT and the Revo is kind of a cross between an MT and a stadium truck. The Savage is a great basher and tough as they come. The Revo is built well and very fast.

Note, any RC you buy has the potential to break the first time you drive it...so be prepared to spend some money on any ride you buy. But to limit the upfront costs...take a look at the two I mentioned...as they will also save you money down the road.

Good luck in your quest and welcome to the hobby and to RCNT!

Well I dont know how a Honda is built, but if you are looking for durability I say go wity a Savage rather than a maxx. I have both and I have had to dump a wad of cash in to the Maxx to make it durable, but I have not had to do much at all to my Savage since I got it several years ago.

thank you for the welcome. i am looking on towerhobbies.com and it says the savage is discontinued.

edit: only tower hobbies has discontinued it, not other sites. i am looking for something around 300-350 bucks

Not likely. Here's a listing for the Savage...in its current run...
