hey all i purchased a sirio .23 brand new out he box and this thing has been nothing but a head ache. i have had it for about a month now and ran nearly a gallon of 20% fuel through it i run a medium plug. can anyone please HELP!!! basically it has no top end if i have the throttle wide open it dosnt make a difference on the speed it basically dosnt go any faster after half throttle... it seems to be running kinda rich with temps around 185 195 its not very stabble as far as temps. when i try to lean it out on the top it basically sputers and cuts out when i hit the gas... the same goes for the bottom end mixture. I'm about ready to give up on it any help would be so greatly appreciated. it sucks that i payed 260.00 dollars for an engine that i can't even enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!:angry:

Medium plug? Change the plug to a hot plug like a McCoy 59 plug. That is a great engine and I was just breaking mine in when I sold it. Pretty bummed I did actually but the plug will probably be the best change to that engine. Your engine temps are too low to get that engine to see anything but blubbering due to the temp. It should run some where in the range of 240 to 265ish.

Let us know what happens.

EDIT: ALSO verify that carb can actually open all the way. I remember mine I had to put a longer rod and rotate the carb a bit. This was on my old Maxx.

well actually i ran a hot plug for about five minutes and wound up changin back to medium cause it seemed more responsive with the medium. also for some reason when i lean the engine past 205 it runs horrible and begins to cut off real bad to the point were you cnt even drive it and sometimes it wont even start until i richen the needle back some. any idea of could possiblly cause this?

Has this engine evern been broken in properly?

I am not going to give you the same song and dance about how crucial break in is to an engine. You may have yet to do that properly. Also what ride is this in? Have you checked for leaks? Have you sealed it?

yes i beleive i broke the engine in perfectly i ran the engine really really rich for about 12 tanks and the first 2 tanks were the no resistance methode which consisted of putting the revo on a bucket and just leting it idle well a little higher than idle and like i said it was really rich running at like 125 is wat i got on my temp gun. also yes i have recently sealed of my carb neck along with the highend needle thread and changed to new fuel lines although one thing i didnt mention is that i have to fuel filters one for main fuel and one for pressure line. on the on for te main fuel line there seems to be decent sized air bubble in the thing could that be my problem and were would the air be coming in from like i said i sealed of the carb and put new lines???? how would i know what part is leaking there are really no aparent signs of fuel ouside the engine but this week when i removed the easy starter ther was some fresh fuel between the starter and back plate what would cause this to happen and is this normal should i seal this with rtv sealant. once again thanks for your time and help and srry for all the questions

The only stupid question is the one you don't ask! When I first started in this hobby, I thought they were going to run me out of here on a rail for asking so many questions. These are great people here! They tend to bend over backwards to help.

I wouldn't start tuning for performance until I reached the 1 gallon mark.

It sounds to me like you need some more fuel through it.

At the conditions that you say, I really can only say it has not been broken in yet. If you are under 200 the entire gallon, I would be worried. Those temps need to be more so you can achieve higher RPM's to help loosen that piston and sleeve better. I don't like to increase idle to bring the temps up all the time if I dont have to but you may have to.

thanks guys. today i finally gave the engine a spin and tryed retuning but once the engine got 2 about 215-220* it started cuting out when i would just touch the throttle mind you i havnt even leaned out the bottom end mixture yet only the top and this is wat I'm getting!!! any ideas?

Is this on a Revo or Tmaxx??? If it is on the Revo, Check the Fuel tank Oring. That is notorious for causing air leaks.
