RC Driving Style
Hey all. I bought a used savage 25. Upgraded with mach 26 losi engine, 3 speed tranny, aluminum clutches.
I was running it after getting the fuel adjustments adjusted to where it would run. well it kinda started acting funny. I would give it throttle and it would rev but not move. after a second it would act like it slammed into gear. It done this twice and I turned it off. had 2 teeth broken in two different places on the spur gear. (on a steel gear) So I tore it apart. and found that the clutches were worn. (Could that cause my problem?) I took all my parts to the local hobby store and found out that he could not get parts for that engine. looked on ebay and I think I found the spur gear I need but that is all that I could find, but I am new to the hobby and dont really know what I am looking for. I need:
a steel 52t spur gear
a 13t bellhousing
a aluminum clutch set
and to beat all a carb kit (boot on throttle is busted)

Can any one help me find the parts and let me know exactually what I need? I am planning a trip to the beach next week and I would like to take my savage and rustler with me.. PLEASE HELP!!!!!
 
Thank you alot. Now that I know where to go for parts. knowing exactually what I am needing to get is the other thing. what size is the motor? how to look up the parts for the different motor? is most 2 speed and three speed basically the same driven parts (spur gear)? Hey I really do appreciate your help...
 
you DONT want a steel spur gear.. Its good to have the give of the plastic. With no give on the steel one, youll just hurt other stuff. (Probably more expensive than the $4 spur gear..)

Seconded, and plus, it's easier to pull the motor (two pins for the tank, the lines, one retainer for the end of the pipe and the four on the underside of the engine mount) than it is to pull the trans (unless it's the X, then it's 6 screws no matter what). Either way, stick with the plastic spur, and adjust the slipper to the factory setting (1/2 turn from completely tightened).

edit; the short version of the question: The only key differences between the 2 and 3 speed transmissions are the internal workings. They're the same case, spur, bearings, and shafts. If you don't have the manual, http://www.rcdocuments.com/ is your best friend.

In addition to adding a 3rd gear (second shift), it adds 10% bottom and 10% top end to the overall transmission.
 
The mach 26 engine is a great engine. You can get parts for through Horizonhobby.com With a Mach 26 in a Savage I would gear it 16/47 to start with and go from there.
