i have a ni-mh 6.0v 300mah 5 cell rechargeable battery pack and need to know if this will work for the receiver batterys on my maxx or will not last that long could some please help me before i change the wireing on my maxx

it will work but your going to have to fequently charge it during a bash

I'm running a Ni-Mh 6v 1200 mAh pack and it will last all day and then some.

If you have a TRS and a fail safe then I would say give it a shot and see how it does. But I am guessing it won't last very long.

I would make sure to install a "VoltSpy" (sometimes called "VoltWatch") type of indicator, so you can see how the battery strength is holding up. I get them at a LHS for about $15, which is cheap insurance. If your battery starts dropping off, the lights will flash down towards yellow and red, then you know battery is about to quit.

Here's a pic of mine, simply stuck on the side of the battery box, takes two seconds to mount and hookup:

Thats pretty nifty i want. Think radio shack will have somthing like that??

Radio Shack will definitely not have any of these items. You will find them almost exclusively at LHS, or internet. Venom monitor is OK, but it is too gaudy (brightly colored) for me. I like something that is black and blends in with the truck.

VoltSpy/VoltWatch works perfect for me, and looks good too. When I want to bash a tank or two, I simply turn on VoltSpy and then work throttle and steering at same time. That puts a load on the battery. As long as that light stays solid green at the top of scale while the battery is under load, I know I got plenty of juice.

You can get one here: http://www.hobbico.com/accys/hcap0330.html

I have a similar system to VoltWatch in my heli. Same setup with the colored LEDs, but much slimmer, and covered in a plastic sleeve. I added them to my planes also.
When I got the Tmaxx about 2 years ago, that was the first thing I added. Everyone asked what the green light was inside the windshield.
When my LHS owner had forgotten to turn his Tmaxx Rx off, the next day he slammed it under a buldozer trailer doing some MAJOR damage when it went to full throttle and wouldn't steer.
He now has one installed, and stocks them in the store.
A small investment for one less thing to worry about.

If you bash for long sessions (1hr plus) I myself would probably look into a better battery.

If you have a failsafe I wouldn't worry too much.

If you don't remember that when Ni-cads go, they go quickly. One second slow to turn, the next no juice at all.

I'm always low on cash and looking to cut corners, but TX/RX batteries are one spot I always like to be sure on.

Perhaps the best thing about Voltwatch/Voltspy is that it will immediately alert you if you have a bad battery. If the battery has a bad cell, it may appear to have charged OK, and may work the controls. But it will quickly die and cause you to lose control.

If the battery pack is bad, the simple load test with the Voltwatch/Voltspy installed will show you right away that you need a new battery.

I got a great pack from Onlybaterrypacks.com it is a front shock tower mounted 5 cell 2700mah that is great for my SuperMaxx with 200oz torq servos. :flaming:
