I put a 3 speed trans in my savage x and it will not shift into 2nd or 3rd I've loosend the second screw that the diections say to to get it to shift and still doesn't can someone please help a newbie out thanks ..

Welcome to RCNT.
First things first. Have you run it and broken it in? Is it properly tuned?
Did you install the fully assembled trans, or did you put in the 3 speed kit?

The biggest problem people have with the 3 speed is not tuning the motor properly. The 3 speed requires a good tune to shift. If you are running too rich you will not generate enough RPM for the 3 speed to shift. The two speed would shift on a rich tune, but for some reason the 3 speed needs more RPM to shift.

Also make sure you have the clutch holders on in the right direction. Both clutch holders have a grove cut into one side. The grove goes toward the rear (spur gear side) of the truck.
