Hello everyone,
I was wondering what other fuel filters are out there that will not only filter the air but also won’t rub on the fuel lines. It seems that this filter that the Baja 5B uses on the bottom of the air filter. It rubs the fuel lines and I’ve tried to run the fuel lines differently, but they always wanna go back to the same place where they’re rubbing on the air filter!

Sorry again!!!! I meant Air Filter!!! I know the fuel filter “Clunk” is in the tank, thanks

I don't have the baja so I couldn't say. On my 5T clone I use the DT1 triple stage foam filter. I would check out the Large Scale Forum or wait until @Tunedfrog sees this. Maybe @jojobeans can say what he is using.

You can see the air filters I use on my 5b, I use longer fuel lines and just zip tie them out of the way.
They are pretty cheap on amazon.
It's kind of tough with little room but it works.

I have been summoned. I just use the 2 stage foam filters that it came with. Little 2 stroke oil on the inside filter and I leave the outside filter dry. I’ve had the filter off a few times and there’s been zero dirt or grime in the throat of the carb. The foam is reusable; just clean with dish soap, water, let it air dry and reapply oil. I would just use the foam ones and not worry about the fuel lines. I’m yet to have an issue where a fuel line gets pinched and mine are routed the same way.

My buddies “high flow” style filter on his XLT450 is a piece of junk though. Sand passes right through the filter. We’ve tried dry and we’ve tried spraying a little k&n air filter oil on it with no real difference. I would personally avoid these if you can. Even in full size cars, these things suck and cause nothing but issues IMO and I’ll die on this hill. 🤣

I despise using a filter with a paper element!!! Tell me I’m wrong???

Paper is one of the best filter media for engines. It’s the cotton filter ones that require some kind of oil that suck. Like the k&n filters.

Tons of lab test on full size vehicles that show paper filter outperforming cotton oiled filters 10 fold regardless of brand. The cheapest paper filter, filter better than the most expensive cotton reusable ones. If I could run a paper filter on my Baja, I would in a heart beat.

Edit: Just to back up my claim. This is an ISO 5011 test. Far more accurate than any word of mouth or myths circulating the internet about cotton filters. How a company can claim more air flow, while simultaneously claiming that it filters out smaller particles is a pretty bold claim.
