I'm doing 4 spider diff mod on my truckzilla and was just wondering what oils you would recommend for this setup.
I can go with the typical 3000W in front and 1000W in rear or I guess the more aggresssive 5000W front and 3000W rear.

On my other Savage with the .25 I went with the typical setup. I'm considering the more aggresive for the .46
Does anyone think I will have problems with that? I'm trying to build a toque monster without having stuff break on me:)

HarryNuts.... I went with your second choice-5000 weight front and 3000 weight rear. It has held up so far for me. Periodically you have to check your diffs to make sure you still have oil in them.:)

Have you noticed oil seeping through the cup gasket and also did you use silicone on the gasket?
Are you using grease or oil for the outside gears in the plastic housing?

Diff Mod

Yes Harry it does leak a little. And no I did not use silicon on the gasket, is that why it leaks? I used some grease I had around the shop for the outside gears

You may have overfilled it and silicone is no guarantee that it will seal but its alot stronger then a thin paper gasket.

Why do some people add higher weight oil to the front? I mean on a loose surface it's not going to make a difference but on a hard surface it's going to add wear and tear to the front diff as a result of the inside and outside wheel turning at different speeds.

Hardcore off-roading, rockcrawling. Other than that, some people prefer the way it handles....just look at on road racing.
